Interesting. Friend of mine destroyed a 300zx a few weeks ago. I mean just gone, lucky to survive it looked like. No idea what happened though.

Probably just a simple case of either a driver not paying attention or a loss of control.

On a side note anyone know what a "Fiat Fourini" is? Its mentioned in the article, google just links back to the article when i search it.

Ford C-Max happened. Probably someone speeding while on their phone or just plain being oblivious to their surroundings. That's if it was an accident atleast

This is why I would take a flip phones over a smart phone, you can text and drive with a flip phone without looking at it as long you know the lay out of the buttons.

I don't know. The voice thing on smart phones is pretty good now. Even if it does get something wrong every now and then.

Or you could just, I don't know... pull over

Besides. Driving is more fun when phones are used just for music!

Or perhaps you could remind yourself that you have more important things to be doing currently, like focusing on driving the car. Since lets face it, your conversation is probably pretty insignificant, whereas the damage a vehicle can cause isn't.

    Idiots like you cause accidents.

"In Australia, distraction has been identified as a contributing factor in 22% of car accidents and a staggering 71% of truck accidents. It’s also been identified as a contributing factor in 46% of ‘near crashes’. Experts believe that using a mobile phone while driving greatly impacts your ability to concentrate on driving. However despite this, a recent Queensland study showed that 25% of drivers still use their hand-held mobile phones while driving on a regular basis. A further 14% reported using their phones to text while driving. Another study by the Australian government in 2011 found that 59% of mobile phone users in Australia (93% of the Australian drivers reported owning a phone) used their phone while driving. Of these, only 28% reported using a hands-free car kit. Perhaps predictably, the highest level of mobile use while driving come from the youngest drivers, aged 18-24."

Taken from this article in 2015, I can only imagine it's worse:

Do not ever buy a Fiatsler product. It's called "Fix it again tomorrow" for a reason. My mother was trying to start her Journey for a trip to a church small group tonight and her computer just went insane. I've tried to start it myself and it just won't. First it says "key not detected" even when I'm holding the fob right up against the dashboard, then "vehicle not in park" even when it clearly is. Meanwhile the dash lights up like a Christmas tree with every warning light in the world including the throttle-control module. Goes through its turn-on sequence (sweeps gauges to calibrate & etc.) multiple times but never tries to crank. Some of this could be the neutral safety switch (which Chrysler likes to put in a really stupid place on the bottom of the transmission where water can get inside easily, and in conditions like today's, freeze), and with older cars that had actual ignition locks you could trick them but putting them in neutral to start, but this one has keyless go and it won't let me shift out of park (which it says it's not in), though that may be due to having so much brake pressure built up from both of our attempts to start it that I'm not even sure I can get the pedal down far enough to work the interlock. A lot of people are saying computer issues, which makes a lot of sense given the problems described, and which this car is notorious for anyway. This is just the latest in a long string of problems with a 2014 model we've had since February (2014 model - less than 10K miles - should have known better!), including something broken in the front driveline, a mis-programmed differential computer (codes intended for a different car), and water in the carpet, likely caused by drain channels clogged with sound-deadening foam. This is in addition to lesser annoyances like an unintuitive control scheme, a touchscreen navitainment system which might not be any worse than others (haven't worked with enough to tell) but is still a touchscreen navitainment system, a laggy electronic throttle, and a BS "self-learning" transmission controller that tries to adapt to the driver's habits but is less than helpful when you're taking a car that was previously used in the city (by someone who may not have been the best driver) and trying to drive it farther out in the sticks (and people wonder why we like older cars!). This whole car is a masterpiece of unreliability, bad engineering, and user-hostile design. Avoid this car forever, don't care what the price is, don't care how low the mileage is, don't care if it has any good points, don't care if you're desperate, just don't.

There should be a manual way to override the park crank lockout.

I did manage to get it to let me put it in neutral, and it sounded like it was trying briefly to crank, only to then stop and reboot itself while flashing warning lights again.
