Why is it carbouratted? I mean, by the 80's they had the first ferrari with fuel injection. It was a mechanical fuel injection but fuel injection nonetheless, it doesn't make much sense to see the bolide being carbed. Specially the race variant considering most manufacturers had abandoned carbs for racing in the mid 60's if they could.
When a car is fuel injected, the RPM will never rise past the redline, or the point at which the engine will be damaged. The fact that the Civetta can do that, shows that the car is carbouratted. Which means its using a very basic system to mix fuel and air. However the brand that the Civetta is based on was already using fuel injection a few years before the Civetta supposed year of production. In fact, the very car that the Civetta is based on was one of the first fuel injected ferraris in mass production and the first turbo ferrari in mass production. It makes no sense to not have a RPM limiter.
The Countach had carbs until 1985. The De Tomaso Pantera seems to have used carburetors right up until it was discontinued. Looking at the back of the Bolide though, it appears to have a injection system. Whether or not it's mechanical or electronic is Gabe's knowledge. If it's mechanical, that's not a guarantee it would have a rev limiter afaik.
IIRC even mechanical injectors have a RPM limiter. However at this point i am talking out of my bare back.
The engine mesh for the Bolide shows what looks like a very typical throttle body for a fuel injected engine, if I had to guess the Bolide is mechanically fuel injected, hence the lack of a rev limiter. More likely, it simply happens to be an old car that was made really early into the development of BeamNG and gabe wasn't expecting people to waste their time speculating about what method of fuel delivery the bolide uses
Considering that overrev damage only came in the 0.9 or the 0.10 update, i wouldn't think it was that accidental. Are you sure mechanical fuel injection doesn't has some kind of rev limiters? Even carbed cars could fake out rev limiters using spark skipping.
Where are you even getting your information that the Bolide is carbed? I'd say it has more than likely electronic fuel injection...because 1980s.
It lacks a rev limiter, suggesting that it is carburetted, because no carbed car ever had a legit rev limiter.
@Dr. Death , A car doesn't need fuel injection to have a rev-limiter. And not all cars with fuel injection have rev-limiters. In fact, almost all rev-limiters cut ignition rather than killing fuel supply. The fact that the Bolide has 2 vertically mounted air intakes that lead to 2 air cleaners also leads to the belief that the Bolide is fuel injected as, even side-draft carbs don't have intakes with such placement.
Being fuel injected or carburated has nothing to do with how spark is delivered, some mechanical fuel injected cars and carburated can use the same electronic distributers, and they do have rev limiters. They just cut spark, not fuel but they still work like any rev limiter (only with some backfires ) I own a carburated car and i never had any overrev issues.
