Update Speculation thread

Woo! This is exiting! A new map with lots of new things in it!
And it looks like TurboBurger (from the Grand Marshal Taxi advertisments) will be an actual place in WCU (0:34). I hope it's tasty, but it actually sounds like their fries are made in engine oil.

I'm going to drive at night and play some San Francisco Rush 2049 soundtrack in the background, preferably the song from the Dreamcast track 4 (the N64 has a different soundtrack, Dreamcast version was the better of the two imo)

Oh, man, this has got me pumped up. A new map, a truckload (somewhat literally) of new physics improvements, and (possibly) improvements in controllability for controller/keyboard plebs is already going to make this update awesome to play with.

Speaking of WCA, I just realized something which I haven't seen yet in it. As far as I've seen, there hasn't been anything like a tuning shop or a place to buy performance parts from. shown in any of the previews for WCA. After all, Belasco is right next to a gigantic motorsports park, and it would make a lot of sense if there was something like this in either Belasco or San Amaro (the possible name of the industrial/suburb section across the highway from Belasco, as hinted at in the preview).


Also, since Hirochi Raceway has a "Forgotten" layout that's been covered with pine trees, would it be possible for Belasco Raceway (not an official name, just a name I'm going to use for conciseness) to have abandoned sections, as well? Considering that the motorsports park is massive and likely very well-maintained, I'm not exactly hopeful for something like this being implemented, but it is a possibility that some sections of Belasco Raceway could have been disused over time as other configurations gained favor from racers.

 

There appears to be a shop next door to Smash Auto Repair that sells "Rims, Tires, Lift Kits & Hydraulics". Chances are good that we'll be able to purchase performance upgrades in Career Mode without leaving WCUSA.

 

But really, am i the only one scared about how the fact my pc will be melting when i play west coast?

 

I don't get this is-it-JDM-discussion.
Isn't it clearly based on a Piaggio Ape Car? (Piaggo is now called Vespa)
They come in 50 cc, 125 cc or 150 cc (and more recently 175 cc) versions.
In the Netherlands I regularly see the 50cc version. It's probably the only road-legal version here.
And I guess they just gave it a bigger engine so you could actually use it on hills. And because BeamNG is about crashes.

I think it's only called Ibishu because there wasn't a Italian in-game brand and they had to give it a name.
I never really associated the Pigeon with Kei cars in any way. And if you do want to look at Asian cars, it reminds me more of that horrible red three wheeled thing the guys from Top Gear drove in China then anything I've ever seen come out of Japan.

Edit:
I just found a picture of a Daihatsu Midget, so that's a decent contender too, I guess there are Japanese cars that look a bit like it, but I haven't found any Kei Trucks / Kei Truck Trikes that look as much like the Pigeon as the Ape Car.

 

"Vespa" is just the name of their most popular model. The brand is still known as Piaggio.

"Ape" and "Vespa" are italian common names for insects - "bee" and "wasp" respectively - probably because of the characteristic engine sound.

 

We were both wrong it seems.

Because the Piaggo Ciao is now called and labeled Vespa Ciao I always thought they renamed the company. Nobody calls it Piaggo anymore and I don't think you see the name anywhere on them.
But apparently Vespa is part of Piaggo and there are a lot of models under the Vespa name. They used the popularity of their 1 model that was super popular and iconic and gave that name to a whole series of mopeds.
Like the Ciao is officially called the Piaggo Vespa Ciao. And there's the Piaggo Vespa Hexagon. And there are plenty more it seems.

(I always thought the Ciao was their last model, but apparently it gets a lot more confusing. For instance there seems to be a Piaggo Vespa Citta on the Piaggo Wiki, which I know as a Gilera Citta which I thought was made by a different brand entirely)

AFAIK, while a handful of variants of the iconic Vespa are indeed available, the Ciao was known as the Piaggio Ciao throughout its commercial life, same for the Piaggio Hexagon.

Gilera is part of the Piaggio group, they've been selling rebranded Piaggios for quite some time.

 

Could be, Piaggio is a little odd to pronounce for some people. Now that I'm looking at lots of later model Ciao's on Google I do see 'Vespa by Piaggio' on the side of 90% of them.
Don't think I've ever heard anybody my age say the name Piaggio though.

And I didn't know that about Gilera. I've never seen the Piaggio equivalents of the Gilera models that I know or Gilera equivalents of the Piaggio models. Which makes sense I suppose, why sell the model twice in the same country. It's mostly Ciao's and classic scooter models by Piaggio and the Citta by Gilera.

 

IDK 0.4.2.2 was my favorite update, I think its about to change

Anyway, I think that we're going to get at least one new configuration for the Legran with its own skin. Now that the UV map is complete, there's a lot more flexiblility!
