Yeah, I'm just lazy when it comes to it. If I had the time to, I'd clean both my bike and the car, as well as get the car running again. But I'm either not really in the mood (which is often), busy with college stuff, or the weather in England has other plans. It's winter now too, so it's only getting colder. VW electrics aren't fun to fix at the best of times.

This is kinda the wrong thread for it. But I think they're great. I've ridden passenger in one, haven't driven one.

Some people do say they suck, they're missing the point of what the car is. It's not a Porsche. It's an MX5 or an S2000 (actually it's a bit heavier than either). Some claim omg it's so slow, it's not, it'll do 150+ mph, it'll get you to 60 in 6 seconds, sure it's not a v8 sports car or something, but it's not a slouch. It was designed as a fun little sport car in same vein as the old ae86, and it does that well.

Stock springs aren't so great and stock tires suck, they're deliberately too thin for the car really so it can get sideways more easily. Proper suspension kits for that car are common though (don't just put springs on it) and you can easily get some fatter wheels on it. If power is an issue (it's not for a street car) then there's plenty of turbo or supercharger kits available to bring you to about 280-290. Got excellent sources on not running more than that, some engines have been known to take 320, but many have not, only way to find out is to run 320 and see if she dies, 280/290 is what cosworth engineers and most professional builders would advise without upgrading internals

I thought I wanted a mustang when I first started thinking about my first car, but I ended up buying a bunch of shitty police cars.

All together did $7,300 worth of damage to my car! It was a lot worse once the shop got into it.

You put $7,300 into £'s and that's basically enough for a new (standard) 500...
    (Here atleast)

Well, I meant new ish. I can get a 2015 for just over £7000, and a 2016 for just over £8000. Both are low enough mileage to be considered brand new anyway... But you did help me point out the reason I'll never buy a brand new car

Maybe damage under the bumper, which could pop back to it's shape after the hit... or maybe not.

Just judging by the pictures none of the panels are out of alignment so I imagine it couldn't be that bad underneath. Even with some under-body damage I seriously doubt its bad enough to warrant $7k costs.

Is it just me or do you have REALLY bad luck when it comes to car crashes?

Parking sensors. The little bastards are super expensive. Front and rear could definitely cost quite a bit to replace

Yeah but only like $200 tops for a set on ebay. I could understand like $4k going in actual damages and labour but the rest seems excessive. From all the pricing I can find they could have even replaced all the panels that had even minor scratches and it would have cost a good bit less than the quote.

This was the reason it was so expensive. Plus it broke the intercooler, radiator mount and bent the whole car.

I can believe it. Bodywork is expensive and the whole car looks tweaked.

I sold the Grand Marquis. The Thunderbird goes into the shop Tuesday to have the after market alarm removed. It's been randomly disabling the car the last few weeks. Never buy a 22 year old car with an aftermarket alarm.
