You know, 20* is exactly the temp the heating is set to... However I must be the only one here who can feel the cold because every time I wake up all the windows are open... I'd prefer it if it didn't constantly rain aswell. Everything is so slippery... I'd say I wouldn't mind it being warmer, but I'm basically paralized at anything above 20-25*. Went on holiday somewhere hot once, and basically stayed in the swimming pool all day, every day. Only really going anywhere for food because ofcourse I was
I remember going to Greece around 2 months ago, I stayed in the pool for 30 minutes, came back to my hotel room and found a massive sunburn on my back. Tip: don't go to Greece, it's a shithole.
Well, I can tell you that it is annoyingly hot here, at 75*F right now. It is also so humid that when you walk outside the air feels heavy and you feel sticky and sweat within 5 minutes. It has never snowed where I live (at least not that I know of).
Finally cleaning the old vinyl player. But, being born after the golden age of music, I have a few questions. (Sorry for the blurry image, moved before it took the picture) Ok, so the questions. This doesn't have the pin at the end of the arm, so I need that? What is this powered by? The only cables are the 3 above, which all look like audio cables How much is some vinyl, I don't have any
First of all it's called a turntable. Second of all yes, you'll need a new stylus that's a P-mount style. Looks like a mono 3.5mm jack probably designed to hook upto a Stereo for power, probably 12v you you may need to hack it a little. Records can vary in cost, new they cost around $30, from your local thrift store? Probably a buck each. Oh and you'll need to buy a Carbon fiber brush or a record cleaning kit. https://www.lpgear.com/product/ATC3482P.html < buy this https://www.lpgear.com/product/AT6012.html < this to clean your dirty records https://www.amazon.com/Tetra-Teknic...pID=41BF2KvGJzL&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch < that to keep 'em clean. Good luck.
You can call them that, but I usually reserve that for the little 50s - 70s portable all in ones and the modern shitty crosley crap.
The turntable came with a stereo player (it spins, even before I cleaned it and it had 10lbs of dust and spiders), so I guess I'll clean that up too. Thanks for all the links, I'll be getting those soon
I've come across a lot of dirty gear in the time I've spent collecting, never ceases to amaze me just how dirty people let things get, though Nicotine is very good at preserving brushed aluminium face plates. might want to crack the stereo open and give it a little dust with a paintbrush or blow out with a compressor. You're just at the begining now, wait until you start getting really good gear. Also make sure you pick up a stylus brush, and be gentle with the tonearm, stylus' are very fragile and always remember to never touch the grooves of a record with you fingers, only pinch the outer lead in groove and handle them by the sides.
75° and humid is bad? Is that just because it's unusual for this time of year or am I missing something? Two weeks ago where I live was in the 70's (though currently there is nothing in the forecast above 50°, a few days ago it was in the 20°s not counting a nasty windchill. While I'm talking about the cold I may as well mention, it's gotten sub-zero a couple of recent winters). Hottest it's ever been here was 122° about 6 years ago. I was stuck in the car for most of that day doing errands, that sucked.
Why does this always happen to me? I heard three notes of a song that reminded me of another song, and now I can't find it, again. Does it exist? Am I some sort of idiot savant who composes music without knowing or something?
Well, I hate the really hot weather here. I would like to have temperatures around the low 40*F, but that never happens where I live.
Just a quick question to all you 'muricans out there: what are the chances of getting caught driving without a license? How often do you get pulled over? (This is just me wondering, not planning anything)
The only time your license would get checked would be if you got pulled over. You're usually only going to get pulled over if you're speeding or doing something stupid. It still isn't worth driving without a license though.
