There are alot of name suggestions but i think its already been stated that he wont be adding anymore to the poll. I think you should remove name suggestions from the title for its getting quite spammy in here. The portholes would be an interesting addition but I think it would be better if it was an optional feature. Its something that wouldent fit on every build. --- Post updated --- I feel like some of those parts wont quite work unless someone adds them as a 3rd party addon pack for this mod. Seeing as in modern day culture it could be considered "Ricy" but the side exhausts and the engine are something that could be interesting to see.
I won't be adding too many extra parts unless it's required for what I want to do with the mod. I have to texture and UV all of this stuff, and that takes time and patience, the later is something I have a hard time finding with UVs. 1; I actually had never heard of the Perrentti Coupe until you mentioned it 2; GM just didn't like Pontiac trying to capitalize on performance. I feel like the C3 vette would have been totally different and would have been an overall better car if the Banshee had made it to production, because then it would have had something domestic to compete against. Just my thoughts on it. 3; lol. Dude there are enough names here to keep modders busy for ages. I was just not happy with what I was hearing for the most part. Vendetta works fine, its still retaining a healthy lead over everything else in the polls too, which means that alot of people like it. Go for it, I'd love to see concept sketches. 4; We will see what route I go. Maybe I can do factory fixed headlights for later models and popups for earlier models. 5; I decided to ditch portholes, it didn't look right at all on this car when I tried it. I think its because the roof's not the right size for it. Oh well, there are still plenty of other things I can do here and there to make the car feel more Gavril like, whilst still retaining the parts needed to make it look more like a C3. Olympia and Mythic remind me more of an early 20th century luxury ocean cruise liner instead of a 60s sports car. 1; Alright I will remove name suggestions from the title. 2; I ditched portholes because it didn't work on the car without looking really odd and out of place. 3; I won't be doing very many extra parts unless they don't have to be part of the main body UVs. Later tonight I will show off what I have been working on today
1A. Really? Then again, I think that the Perrentti used in Fury Road had a very minor role anyway. 3A. The mid to latter part of that goes back to what I said, which is why I think Vendetta was the best choice for this car. 2B and 5. I might just edit an image of a C3 Corvette just to see what it looks like.
I'm sorry, you misunderstood me on the tail fins, what I meant was why not exaggerate the line where the rear deck lid meets the rear quarterpanel, make little ridges? Like these.... On a side note; the whole Banshee/corvette, Pontiac/Chevy thing basically happened from the early 60's (when John DeLorean took over Pontiac) until 2010, when Pontiac went defunct. DeLorean introduced the GTO as an option pack on the Tempest, championed the Firebird over it's twin, the Camaro. In fact, the Firebird was the Banshee, just slower, and put into a 'pony car' class rather than a sports car. DeLorean constantly tried to slip option packages for the Screaming Chickens that would give them more power than the Camaro, but GM nixed those (apart from the legendary Trans Am handling pack.) See, GM still thought of Pontiac as a trim level between Chevy and Buick, with Pontiacs getting nicer interiors than the Chevys, and DeLorean wanted for Pontiacs to have better performance too. but GM couldn't have the Firebird competing with the Corvette, and GM also didn't want the Bird to outshine its twin. By 1973, J.Z.D. had had enough and left to make his own car company, DMC, which would eventually spawn the doomed yet immortalized DMC-12 (The Back to the Future time machine car.) The last great hurrah for Pontiac was the new G8 in 2009, which was a rebadged Holden Commodore and later the Chevy SS. Pontiac made no less than 4 GENERATIONS OF THE BANSHEE CONCEPT, only to have them all nixed. it was a shame too, the 1988 Banshee IV was quite a looker.
So far today I got quite a bit done... First up, the popup headlights are now in the game, and functional This was a good hour or 2 of work on JBeam, Texturing, and setting up in game. The model took a few minutes to put together, I already had most of the stuff traced out and ready to go. I have gone with normal C3 headlights for now, though fixed headlights will be done in the future for later model years of this car, to separate it from the real corvette a bit more. After all, I do plan on having this run from 1964-1972, (which also predates required running sidemarkers for the first 4 years. Cleaner sides we go ) The glowMaps on the taillights are also working. The brake lights are the outer rings, the turn signal is the outer most inner circle, and the reverse light is the inner most inner circle. Now I just need to set up deformGroups and props for the lighting. It may not be accurate to the corvette, but its in the game, each required element is there, and I am not touching that again for now I also added in the shifter stuff on the interior, as well as the center console area. Right now I am using an automatic, though manual is also in the game. The shifter is a bit too small but I can fix that later when I come back over the interior to add in more stuff. The underside got some love today, I finished out modeling the underside of the main body. Its not 100% accurate, but it does the job. Also, not pictured, up front I added in the rest of the modeled suspension components. I still need the steering models, but otherwise its almost all there. The rear still needs the brakes and whatnot. Tomorrow will be more detailing and JBeam work. It's starting to look more and more complete by the day, but I still have a ton of stuff left to do once the model is all in game and complete. I am going to UV unwrap the body once I have everything made, and I am certain I am not going to be messing with the UVs again.
So, did I read that right? You are only doing 1964-1972? That’s when the Banshee was born, but the C3’s first model year was 1968, and they ran until 1982. Do you have a C4 in the works somewhere? Another little side note; due to last minute legislation in 1983, GM had to postpone the C4’s release until the next year because the new high tech car was no longer compliant with emmissions in california. 43 cars were made in 1983, and 42 of them were crushed by GM. The last car was supposedly hidden from the higher ups by the builders and preserved until it was put into a museum. As a result, there is only one 1983 Corvette in the entire world.
I don't have a C4 in the works, however I do intend on helping another user with one shortly, who got the model from one of the Forza games. I believe its an early 90s C4, honestly one of my least favorite model years for the corvette. The reason for the 1972 cutoff is because of crash bumpers. I want to do a c3 styled model from 1974-1982 but instead of the actual rubberized bumper covers, I want to do full on mount a large heavy a** bumper to both ends like seen on the early crash bumper era camaros. I would skip a year because for story reasons, Gavril wasn't ready for crash bumpers. I had heard that about the C4. Quite a shame that it had to be postponed, and nearly all of them were crushed, and the last one is living in a ticking time-bomb of sinkholes. I am currently working on a few smaller detail pieces that need to be JBeamed in, and also working on separating the rear tail lights from the body JBeam, which I had been using for testing. Also I hope to have the interior mirror and sun-visors done today, then that should be it for the interior. As for stuff out back, I need to get the fuel cap, the first set of exhaust options (I am going to opt for them to face down to avoid putting holes in the rear face, this was done on later model year corvettes with crash bumpers,) and also start getting some badging made for this. I am going to try and come up with a creative alternative to the corvette's dual flag logo.
Eh... We will see what I come up with I am done taking name suggestions, if you read the last 8 pages of spam, ahem I mean this thread, you will see a good amount of name suggestions. Currently the winning name is Vendetta, and I don't think adding any more names is going to help anything other than cement the already pretty much certain name of the car.
On the subject of the logo, A fountain pen crossed with a sword (and I mean pen / \ sword = pen X Sword, not a pen sword hybrid.) after all, it is the Gavril Vendetta, and how else are vendettas fought but with pens and swords? Lol edit, v for vendetta guy fawks for the logo, because memes and anachronisms.
I decided I am going to close the poll. Vendetta is the winner from the naming poll. Title has been changed, and work will now begin on logos using the Vendetta name.
Awsome I like it and the progress on the mod so far is great aswell. I like how the circular headlights were done aswell as the popups. Keep up the good work mate!
Thanks, The second one is not that bad, idk why you thought it was extremely cancerous. It was exactly what I was thinking of when you suggested a pen and a sword crossed. The first one may work well for custom thumbnails. If I use your work you will be credited appropriately.
