Hello there I have recently tried moving from the old style engine to the new "powertrain" engine but I am having no luck even getting the game to recognise the car's engine. There is no "start engine" button and the rev meter seems to be glitched out. Nothing helpful in console that I can see... I have attached the car if anyone wants to take a look? Thanks
So i did some playing around for about an hour and proceeded to not get an engine to work. Luckily in your case I found a Old Thruster thread(https://www.beamng.com/threads/how-to-add-boosters-updated-23-02-2017.5250/?p=60349#post60349). I already added a forward thruster to the main .Jbeam but haven't had any luck with the rear. If you remap the Bucket keys you can use this: Code: {"factor":10}, {"thrustLimit":10000}, {"control": "G"}, ["a16", "a19"], This will allow you to go backwards/stop your vehicle. Just overwrite the old .Jbeam with this new one. Cheers!
I've attached a bare minimum configuration to get power to all 4 wheels, you should be able to drop the file into your folder and select the new engine, all the other parts will also need selecting. There's nowhere near enough torque to move the thing, but if you lift it or put it in zero g you can spin the wheels. I'll leave it up to you to configure the devices properly. I'd recommend using the slots system a lot more - it can be very helpful when starting out to be able to quickly remove parts that you aren't working on.
Oh lord thank you! Finally it moves. I just discovered the "tree" of engine, transmission and so on in the vehicle configuration in the game itself. Now I have to find out why my mishmash copy coded vehicle engine didnt work
Did a lot of the engine code, but you would need to rewrite pretty much the whole thing to get it up to standard. Here's the engine file if you want it:
Thanks I will check it out. Right now the automatic gearbox on mine is working but isn't perfect. It refuses to change up unless it hits the RPM limit and all 4 wheels are firmly on the ground.
