The 280X MSRP is more or less 300$. Its just retailers have jacked prices to cash in on the coin craze. Once that dies down we will once again have 400$ 290s etc. AMD has no control over what the retailers price at and isn't making any more money.

Yeah, hopefully the mining craze will go down soon. :/

Sweet. We need as many folders as we can get.

Since I stopped folding we dropped from a 50k+ team to a 25k+. We also seem to have lost a rank or two. Anyone have a way to add another 30k ppd or so?

I can through in a nvidia 7300 LT. It will probably only get like 10ppd though.

I doubt even that. :p I will buy a new card eventually, but I can not work until the summer and already blew my Christmas money on the new case and cooler.

    I posted pics! :p
It's a nzxt source 210 with a NZXT T40 cooler and a NZXT sentry 2 fan controller. All in a black and white theme.

Oh ok cool. I didn't realise that was the case you just got. Tbh I just payed more attention to your computer's insides :p

Edit: just looked at the pics you posted. Very cool case. I really like aesthetics. When I upgrade I will have to get a new case. I don't think I can fit any card larger than a 7770. I'm looking at either a NZXT phantom 410 or a Arc Midi R2. I don't want to spend a whole lot on a new case or else I'd get a 750D. I have no real use for a full-tower though.

I still fold from time to time but only get 1.5k ish ppd. It's been warm enough where I don't need to leave my pc folding all the time to keep it in the 60s though :p

Thanks. I was going to get this, but then couldn't afford the controller.

    I scan ebay a lot, but $50 doesn't buy a new system. :D

I sometimes wish I could part with my money easier. I literally have $2000 lying around doing nothing, but I can't bring myself to buy anything(I know this isn't necessarily a bad quality). I for some reason make "milestones" with my savings. So if I have $2322.45, my mind tells me I have $322.45. I'd be that millionaire who is homeless because I couldn't bring myself so low as to buying a house. :/

Also what fan controller is that?

How did you get it? Working or Christmas gifts? :p
It is the NZXT sentry 2 if that is what you are asking. 5 controllers and 5 thermal probes.

Haven't got the rig folding yet, been busy in life. And in my spare time I've changed over to Ubuntu 13.10 so it'll be a bit until I am running full steam. Sorry guys

    We're losing spots!
I have a deal going on a 280x but I need a new PSU first, so I can't fold ATM.

looks nice. Is it mechanical or membrane? I have the corsair k70 with cherry MX reds and it is delightful.

It uses silicon but it feels quite clicky. It has a little bit of the bounce to it, but it feels like a quite nice middle ground. I actually assumed it was mechanical for the first few hours of games, but typing gives it away.

News and a small bump so I can find this in my subscriptions folder. Anyways, AMD might hike the MSRP on the r9 290 series by $100. :( In competition for compute nvidia is launching the 750ti that will "have twice the double precision/$ over Kepler" for $225. That might bring down the prices with some competition.

I don't really get how nvidia can come from nerfing compute to saying it's a new feature...
