I dont know what the f*ck is it's name but I'll say Exhaust Flames. I was bored and I started messing up with Nitrous and Cars since I tried the Gavril Barstow (Drag Version) and found this: This car hasn't got rev limiter, so if you floor it looking for exhaust flames, you can over-rev the engine and kill it, right? But I tried Nitrous (250kW Shot) and I discovered that if you activate the Nitrous manually (thru' the key) when in neutral and not accelerating, the car will rev until the start of the redline and it will stay there shooting and shooting flames. I tried with all the non rev-limiter cars and it works fine, you just have to install the biggest Nitrous Shot and wait xD I don't know if it works with the rev limiter cars too... Is this a bug? Or is intended to be like this? If it's a bugf please leave it because is funny as f*ck and awesome. You can be that tuner that is always in car meets shooting flames xD
It's overrun backfire. Decat your car, then remove all mufflers with a straight pipe coming to a performance backbox/silencer, a stage 1 remap and you'll achieve it.
What? I thought every car in BeamNG has a rev limiter. A 1500hp drag car without a rev limiter would just be a suicide for the engine in case you don’t shift or lift off the throttle early enough. But yea nitrous+rev limiter equals flames. A lot of things cause after fires and most of them aren’t good for your engine...
Older cars don't have a rev limiter. If you look in the .JBEAM Files of the mainEngine, you can see (let's use the barstow as a example) it will say "hasrevlimiter: false" On a car like the ETK 800, OR K-Series, if you look into the mainEngine .JBEAM, It will say "hasrevlimiter: true" But you can make the barstow have a rev limiter, if you change false to true. Or common since, older cars don't have a rev limiter and newer cars do.
Best car I found so far to shoot flames without a rev limiter is a carbed Covet. I just put the Stage-1 turbo and gt exhaust on it (It may not even need these), and just left the throttle open. It can't rev high enough on it's own to damage anything, and the flames are just non-stop. Don't need N2O either, so you could go until the fuel ran out if you wanted to
Every. Single. Person. In this thread has missed the point of the OP entirely. What @MarkosRuiz meant is that a huge shot of NOS can get the engine to the redline, and then act as a rev limiter, preventing the engine from revving past redline, even without an actual limiter. I too would like to know if this is a bug, or if this actually happens in reality.
I didn't miss the point. I just posted something while I was reading the other posts here. It was either that, or also state that I'd like to know if it were a bug or not, or simply not post anything. (Unless I tested it with rev-limited cars, in which case I could've posted my own results, or if I knew if it happened IRL, which I don't think it does). I don't think anyone is off-topic, atleast when compared to the title. Anyway, If the thread's only purpose was to find out whether it was a bug or not, then we didn't really need the thread made atall. Simply asking in the discussion thread would've been fine
I tried with rev limiter cars and the same occurs... I don't think this is the same as IRL because the NOS adds power always, but the ecu stops injecting fuel... Imagine a BNG Drive without rev limiter, when you floor it, it stops revving at 6.8k but redline is at 6.5k, the NOS has to rev more than 6.8k because it adds more power than the engine. Do you understand? English is not my native language xD
In arcade mode that would be working as designed since every car has at least a specific type of rev limiter in arcade mode.
I think they mean that when the game is in 'arcade mode' (I don't know what setting they specifically mean), every single car has a 'rev-limiter' programmed into them, even if the car technically doesn't have a 'rev-limiter'. Therefore, when in arcade mode and only using N2O with no throttle, the car isn't allowed to go past a certain RPM which is only active while in arcade mode. I think the after-fire is like that just because of how the game handles after-fire. I of course, could be wrong, and you may not even be in arcade mode, or whatever.
I always check the settings of every game, and I have all as reallistic as I can, so what @Diamondback said is false in my case... It could be a bug, test it by yourself @Diamondback
BeamNG does not have an arcade mode... there are shifting, throttle and clutch assistants that make a manual behave like an automatic, but there's no such thing as arcade mode lol also, what's the key to inject n2o on neutral? I haven't found it, just an option to arm and disarm the system that only injects at a minimal gear and rpm... anyway, not over-revving to death upon nitrous input on neutral sure is a bug if that's happening... I'll test these ideas out later to see the flames so far my best car for shooting flames is a custom sunburst that feels like it has anti-lag, even thought I'm still waiting for that hehe did anyone else get a fire from shooting flames too much? I always get it with the I series lol
still just assistants, no change to physics simulation... still haven't found the key to nos in neutral thought... I have set my drags to start nos injection while on the transbrake, but it doesn't redline or shoot flames Also, how can one possibly use line lock to heat up the tires? it just drags those tiny front tires along no matter what... when will we get tire thermals? off topic, I have the 69 cadillac with working convertible roof, still works in .11 just no engine sound i'll PM to you tomorrow
I never specified physics mode either. ABS has realistic and arcade mode and gearbox has realistic and arcade behavior in the settings.
yes, you asked totally correctly about what shifting mode was selected... what I posted is that Bng doesn't have distinct game modes with differing physics/simulations that we could classify as "arcade mode" and "simulation mode" separetedely... regardless of your chosen assists, if a car can't make a corner, it won't, no magic happens to save you (like other games may) I suppose the same is true for engine explosions... which btw don't need n2o to happen, pump in more turbo psi and you can get the same result... however I still haven't seen that happen in neutral... but that's completely off-topic. the point here is: injecting n2o at neutral shoots lots of flames and doesn't over-rev even engines without rev-limiter. Is that true? is that a bug? personally I think its a misunderstanding in the first place as Bng doesn't apply n2o on neutral. What's the key to apply n2o on neutral?
