I just want to put it out here. Not all of us have an amazing 30 bagillion dollar computer that’s got 100 gigs of VRAM. With the new West Coast USA map being at like 3 FPS MAX. I really need a smaller easier map so that I can play on a map other than Grid Map. Like even you could make a low FPS version of certain maps so that we can actually play the game. Like remove some trees and Textures and boom I’ll at least have 25 FPS. This will help A LOT. Yes people won’t like this but also people will.
And what are your specs? BeamNG just doesn't run well on low spec computers, especially ones that are bottlenecked by either their CPU or their GPU. It's going to be easier for you to save your money, and build a decent machine than trying to convince the devs to make the engine run significantly better or waste time making smaller maps.
I think the pre WCUSA maps are fine, but cutting up WCUSA and other new big maps wouldn't be a horrible idea. That way people with medium end pc's could do dragraces like before 0.11 --- Post updated --- Normally I would agree, but the minimum requirements are a gtx550ti, which isn't even close to powerful enough for the vanilla content in the game.
3 FPS?! I thought that getting 15 FPS on lowest on my laptop (see specs in my signature; I'm also running Windows 10 Core) with one '96 Pessima on WCA with collisions turned off was bad enough. Geez, what are your specs? Also, if you're having trouble on Gridmap, I recommend this map for you... https://www.beamng.com/resources/vr_city.419/ This is probably my #1 favorite map of all time. It's got a great AI network, it runs fantastically well on low-end computers (I can get roughly 22-27 FPS on lowest with two cars with collisions turned off on my laptop), and it's quite big, too. To do this, you have to go into the eye icon on the top of the terrain editor screen -> Visible -> SceneStaticManageRender, and turn that off. I've seen FPS improvements in the 10+ range on JRI, ECA, WCA, and the ETK map, and it's a handy tool for when your computer can't handle a map very well.
Let's chew this apart! $500 = 50 FPS high settings WCA. Beam will never use more than ~8 gigs (and that's on Tennessee on max!), the only people with 100+ would be servers and render farms (plus, it would be 128Gb due to the nature of tech). If you can't play GridMap smoothly, there's not much we can really do for you. Easy fix, do it yourself. WCA doesn't have to many trees except in the forest, so not much that's going to do. ??
Personally, before my RX 460, I had HD 530. Slightly better than 4000 series, but still ran 30 FPS low. I don't think it's your GPU lagging () behind.
Well I have 7.9 gigs of ram, Core i5 and 1TB of storage. It has everything in Green Checkmark except for GPU. I am using a Lenovo P400 Touch LAPTOP. --- Post updated --- I’m NOT having trouble on Gridmap. It like the only other map that I can use. --- Post updated --- My LAPTOP cost me $1000 CAD. I personally would rather have a MacBook Pro rather than a gaming laptop. I don’t want a desktop as I am 13 and live at a with my parents. So I am getting a job next year and getting paid $30 an hour so that could be when I get a gaming computer --- Post updated --- My LAPTOP cost me $1000 CAD. Why are you complaining if you KNOW that you don’t have the specs required? We’re not going to sugarcoat it: you need a good PC to run this game. I wouldn’t consider buying it if you don’t have a good PC *yet*
WCUSA already feels cramped. You can buy a $300US refurbished laptop that can run 4 cars on WCUSA on lowest settings. I know because that's the going price for a refurbished version of my main laptop. (No idea where Bombboy is getting $500 for full system that can get 50FPS on high settings on WCUSA... Some people with high end systems are struggling to have 50FPS on that map) And how is having a desktop bad because you're young and live with your parents? Also, why would anyone want a MacBook Pro? All Apple laptops are absurdly overpriced. Also^2, why do you keep typing "Laptop" in full caps?
That is causing the problem. BeamNG.drive is a GPU-Intense game. Personaly, i have a GIGABYTE GeForce 750 Ti, it runs at 100% all the time and i've got ~30 fps at WSA. That's why we recommand a Tower PC with a good GPU. If that's not the case, try to take a screenshot of your CPU,GPU and RAM usage while Beamng is running. So we can see what's the REAL problem. --- Post updated --- Slightly?
Listen, I know it's a hard truth, but your computer is just not made for gaming and it will never be able to handle modern games with any sort of decent performance. Laptops are atrocious for gaming because they are made for portability, good power efficiency (some more than others), and ease of use. You can pick up a slightly more capable gaming laptop for under $1000 such as the one I just linked or build an adequate desktop computer for easily less than $750USD that has similar performance (albeit, my speculative cost does not include a monitor and peripherals.)
You probably have a better CPU than they do. I've got a 960 too, and it's always getting bottlenecked via the CPU
oh yeah that's true... Anyway removing vegetation in the world editor is the best way to increase FPS on BeamNG
I myself have an i5-6600k and a GTX970 4GB and I've got this feeling my pc is bottlenecked..I wanna find out. I get 25-70 fps on WCUSA 8GB Memory btw
That's pretty weird... There shouldn't be that much 'fluctuation' (Nice word usage) in the fps. I got the 6350 and 960, and normally get about 40~ on WCUSA, unless I point the camera in the air or something, then I guess the FPS jumps up. I thought the 6600k was meant to be pretty good. Atleast better than the 6350. And I know there's no issue with your GPU (Unless it's actually broken or something)
