This is EXACTLY what I want to do to an AE101 Corolla. Only thing I would change is a 5-speed with longer ratios rather than the 6-speed from the AE111 Trueno in that car. I want dat Corolla highway fuel economy along with my 170HP and 2400 pound weight.
So I figured out how to turn off StabiliTrack and TC in my car.... Thankfully my college has plenty of commuter lots that don't get plowed in the evenings...
You are correct sir... It's actually pretty fun to slide around in given it's mid-size, V6 and AWD... Too bad they removed said engine from the newer, lighter models...
Watching today's One Take on that Corolla really got me thinking... Selling my '96 was the worst mistake I've ever made. What was it about that car? Why did I love it so much? Was it the crazy paint job or the sheer danger of driving it? Perhaps it was the $14 a month for insurance or the almost 40 MPG. Or maybe it was like a first romance. Sure, my current romance (in the form of a Ford Mustang) is 10x the car that Corolla ever was... but I miss it. I've cried over it. I want it's 105HP and 4 speed automatic transmission back. I want it back so bad. I never got to turn it into the street weapon I planned. I was never finished with it. I wasn't done. I've found a replacement. It's a '97 with the 4A-FE and a 5-speed manual. I wish it was the 1.8L, I really do. It produced so much more torque than the little 1.6L. But it's almost perfect. It's the color I want, the transmission I want... but I can't afford it. I don't have the money to go buy it and turn it into a supercharged 4A-GE street weapon. And that deeply saddens me. I don't have anything to wrench on, all the Mustang's problems have been resolved and it's a reliable car now. I don't have a project anymore. I don't have a project anymore...
That's how you know it's time to start modding the Mustang. Random thoughts: I did eventually find all the Herbie movies at a local video rental place, have (shamefully) seen two. As predicted, they provide plenty of material for my inner nitpick to ponder uselessly. Like: how many problems could have been solved if someone, somewhere along the line, had thought to teach Herbie Morse code (though, from a certain point of view, that might have allowed the main villain of "Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo" to get away in the end). Honestly, I think the answer Disney would have given would be somewhere along the lines of "it's just a kids' show, don't think too hard about it", but that answer is no longer sufficient for a modern mind. Also, I really need to get a life. Having my hours cut to heck has not been kind to me.
Now let's talk about the mail. Can we talk about the mail, please, I've been dying to talk about the mail with you all day, OK? "Pepe Silvia," this name keeps coming up over and over again. Every day Pepe's mail is getting sent back to me. Pepe Silvia! Pepe Silvia! I look in the mail, and this whole box is Pepe Silvia!
It's a 2017 GMC Terrain SLE-2... The V6, AWD and remote start/ heated seats (the latter being essential in the UP) are the only options on it, but weight savings bro... Got a surprisingly good lease deal on it in the summer, probably because the 18's were coming in...
