Yeee boi. I love to spread thermal paste with my finger to trigger people. All up and running, transfering files from my laptop and then I think I'll start overclocking. --- Post updated --- A nice steady 4.2Ghz overclock. I could push it further but I'm fine with 4.2.
So i wondered why my red laptop wasn't receiving the new update, (falls Creators update) and well I cleared some space and windows update has gone from "Your machine is up to date" to "Initialising update", hooray for the SMART files on the next update
2 hours of windows updating.... and all progress is lost as at 90% it flashes an error. Why oh why does this have to happen during my mock GCSE exams. I am sleep deprived as it is, don't need it worse thx microsoft..
Aaaand so i used my only external storage at the time (an SD card) to use windows update, it worked and now that computer is on Fall Creators update, but it won't update any further, just won't do the loading thing on the restart, the error code translates to "Restart Control Error" like i don't know what that means but i suspect it to sort itself out eventually (knowing how weird and annoying wuaserv is). Will have to update my sister's laptop to it at some point, i don't know what that is running but as my sister is 10 it is almost non-stop Roblox i suppose some features will go down well with her. The power throttling thing is quite cool too (only on skylake and above atm) saves up to 11% in power. But i don't own a skylake or above intel laptop, my most recent laptop (MY!) is a Core 2 Duo MacBook air and if the red laptop and it's bay trail atom counts. But that is running intel core ix 3000 GPU!
Update to what I said earlier, I bought myself a Gigabyte Aorus X370 K-7 motherboard (~$200 CAD, normally $270 CAD), and a Seasonic Focus Plus 750 watt gold rated power supply for ~$115 CAD (was $10 off, so for the price of a 650 watt unit). I'm pretty happy with the deals I found, especially the motherboard. Strange how it cost less than the K-5 model ($210 CAD), which was already on sale. And with that, time to look at what kind of SSDs I can buy early next year. Thinking of a small M.2 based drive (~120GB) for my OS, and a normal ~250GB SSD for games. My current hard drive still works, and will handle the rest.
So i know have quite a space problem on my c drive its currently using 105gb of the 110 gb i searched the whole hard drive but there isnt that much stuff actually on it maybe some mods? Also is there a way to maybe put beams mods somewhere else so that i have more space?
use "WinDirStat" to check what is using it, probably just something else like Windows update (or "windows.old") run disk cleanup in administrator mode to clean that up
The thing wich uses most is beamng drive with 30gb of mods so ill probably need to clean them up a bit
Using my ThinkPad T60 as a WLAN adapter for my desktop since I haven't been able to run ethernet to my new room yet. I cri.
bloody hell 30gb, 3gb is around my limit, I just swap mods around to an external disk (or another drive) so the C drive stays a bit less full. You could always change the document's folder to a secondary drive, but that is quite a faf to do i think.
I now found that it wasnt my mods. The problem was that beam makes backups every time you clear cache and that took up the 30gb of space
I bought a second hand gigabyte h97-hd3 for cheap... Received with a few bent pins and one broke. Did my best to bent back the pins and put the broken one in place... I have no hopes for it to works...
Just try it with cheap parts. It could just be a power connector or something. My FX 6300 is missing a pin, but still works and overclocks like a champ.
Yeah, I have an old lga1150 pentium somewhere. The thing is I don't have any thermal past lying around, even if that pentium is kinda old, i don't want to overheat it ^^
