As the title states, it's about new members and a lot of them. We all know who they are so I won't take my time to point them out but dear lord, they are truly something special. Whether its their "spamming" on every page of community or development screenshots page, their half a.... ugh built "mods" or their general them just being them??? I don't know but the forums have truly went downhill from crappy new members that shit post, flood new "mods" in and the loss/goodbyes of older members.

    Hey,

Please don't use "blanket statements" like this. 99.9% of new members are good members of the community. Everyone was a new member at one time or another. Sure, there may be a couple that stick out like a sore thumb, but it is not necessary to blame all of them, as your post seems to hint at, intentionally or not.

Also, instead of just complaining about problems, make an effort to solve them. Something that @DuneWulff has wanted to do and that I’ve attempted a bit is starting a “Welcoming party” for new members. Just a little thing to welcome new members to the community, and to point them in the right direction for rules, guidelines, and other information. I feel that this would greatly improve the atmosphere of the community, making it a much friendlier place, while also helping out new members who might not know how things work here yet.

This is a sample message I’ve been leaving on new user’s profiles whenever I can:

Welcome to BeamNG! Here is a link with some important info to get started! (*'▽'*) https://wiki.beamng.com/Welcome_to_the_Forums!

Ranting like this will not help, it only makes the problem worse by making new users feel less welcome. Instead, let’s all do our parts in making the forums a better, friendlier, place. (*╹◡╹)

In a way, you could say the same thing for the older members, but I digress...

The way you make it out is that the only problem is newer members, when this community would...possibly die if It wasn't for newer members joining.

There are for sure sore thumbs in the community, as @Fera said, but that isn't the only problem. I'd think the problem is that the difference of types of members is too much.

As everyone rates them with 1 star (which there is more then just one star, omg amazing) Atleast they are trying in the first place. I'll just use @Ngm as an example...

Sure, he may make, I'm going to be honest, not that good maps, but atleast he has ideas, and is trying to make them in the first place. I'd for sure say that 60% of the community has never made a mod, or atleast has make less then 3, so it should atleast count for effort...

On the vehicle side of the park, @BarmyPark. (Pun intended and yes, just an example) I have no skill, but from what I can see, vehicles are a very difficult thing to do in BeamNG. Some vehicles have taken over a year of work and are never released. Not everyone has the time of a dev, and not everyone has the skill of @Peter Beamo (Finally, not a NinetyNine! example), so atleast he is, like I said, attempting to make one and help with the community.

You may say that making 'bad' mods aren't helping, but is doing nothing on the forums really helping either? Either way, he is taking a step in the right direction, and the hopefully helping community should be the crutches for every future mod creator.

Who knows, someone you have thrown apples at may be the next talent. Maybe giving the newer people a chance?

Also, for real though, another complaint thread? could we please keep it in one thread for once? https://www.beamng.com/threads/status-quo-of-this-community.50049/page-3#post-756890

Figure A: The number of new members that actually cause problems is relatively small compared to the number that join. There are only a couple that are noticeable compared to the hundreds that join daily.
Figure B: I am also accounting for people who make accounts and don't use them.

If they make accounts and don't use them then they don't count.

Agreed, as a new(ish) user, I don't find this thread to welcoming. Generalisations ar never good things.

Depends on how you use it. Spamming community screenshots with broken mods that look awful with terrible pictures makes the game look like crap.

Also, bumping 3 year old threads and wasting space with single word replies, and then wondering why the older members don't like them.

    A) Way too many rant threads lately.

    B) A new member who is not bad would be a ~bad new member. A new member who just lurks (probably the overwhelming majority judging by the fact that I almost never see a name on the "recently joined members" page after it leaves that page) is not a bad member. Y'all do realize that such members retain their existence and status as new, correct? Lurking doesn't make you an old member or delete your account... Considering how many people join per day, Fera's guess is probably a sufficient estimate to use for the percent of ~bad new members for the purpose of this conversation.

    C) This community as a whole needs to be more welcoming... I'm glad that some people are at least making an attempt, but I know if I was a new member here I probably won't post anything at all seeing how some of the new members are treated.

    D) I'm pretty sure it isn't even the new members, just some of the younger members who coincidentally are new.

    E) As by someone stated earlier, how healthy could a gaming community without new members be? A game with a one time purchase certainly wouldn't be around for long if no one could join the community after 2012.

That's not a very welcoming mindset. I agree that we've had a couple of new members do some things that we may not approve of, but still. How would you feel if you were a new member and somebody said these things about you?

If we operated by that logic, we'd be like Arstotzka.

I think that @Fera, @Daniel W. (MJ4Lyfe), and @Re:Z_IA has the best stance here. And if @DuneWulff gets involved with this, I think he'll probably have one as good as the three.

To be honest everyone was new at one point.
I think this thread should be shut down. It's just trashing people who are new and aren't the best at modding yet. Just IMHO

    Plz Don't kill me @Nadeox1
