Get over it, it's called a private message, good riddance to the cancerous spammy Role play groups, this is a game forum, not a computerized world.
Hello! I know many of you are against the changes to the forum as of late, and believe that the devs are “killing the forum.” This could not be further from the truth. The devs are doing everything they can to improve the quality of life on these fourms, taking time out of working on the game to work on the forums. Even if you don’t agree with the changes, I encourage you to express your feelings, but in the form of a civil debate, not an argument. I know there are a lot of changes going on right now, but I believe it’s for the better. These are just some of my thoughts on the changes, I don’t expect everyone to agree, but I encourage you to share your thoughts on the changes as well so that we can have a civilized discussion. The new reporting system: I’m not going to spend too long on this, because it’s already been covered quite a bit, is generally agreed to be good change, and mostly affects the moderators. This is a very good change, as it will make the mod’s jobs much easier, and help limit the amount of trolls and such on the fourms. The new neutral ratings: From what I’ve observed, this has been the most controversial of changes among the community. I can’t really take a definitive side as of right now since the new system hasn’t been fully implemented yet, but I’m strongly leaning in favor of the changes. Since all normal ratings have been converted to neutral ratings, there should, in theory, be less drama over the ratings on posts. In practice, there’s a lot of debate over the “disagree” rating, and people are upset to lose all their positive rating stats, but these are not inherently bad changes. Starting with the new “disagree” rating, there has been a lot of outrage over the addition of a “negative” rating. But I disagree (pun not intended). For example, I say that Tsubasa New Days is a great song. Most of you would probably disagree. Is this offensive? No! We all have different tastes in music, there’s no reason to get offended for someone not liking a song you like. This applies to all options. I’m sure many of you will disagree with what I’m saying in this post. I encourage you to rank my post “disagree” if you feel that way! We all have different opinions, don’t ever feel scared to share your own, original, opinions, or feel like anyone else’s opinion is inherently better than yours. We live in a beautiful world where we can all share, discuss, and debate differing opinions with people all over the world! If you disagree with someone, and have evidence to back up your differing opinion, then share it! If someone shames you for having a differing opinion, (as long as you can back it up,) then they’re the ones at fault, not you! Yes, I am aware that there are scenarios where this could not apply, but all of those scenarios that I can think of should not exist on this site in the first place. Now, yes, the disagree button does leave an easy outlet for trolls to, well, troll, but just don’t let it get to you. The beauty of the new ratings system is that they don’t count towards anything. Someone rated your screenshot disagree? OK. Ignore it and move on. Trolls are fueled by attention, so don’t give them any. On the other side, don’t use the “disagree” rating as a “dislike” rating. If you don’t like something, just ignore it. Our community needs more positive energy, not negativity. So “superlike” and “dislike.” I haven’t seen a lot of discussion about these ratings, likely (pun not intended) because they haven’t been implemented yet. Like I said before, I can’t really take a side right now since it hasn’t been implemented yet, but I think it’s a fantastic idea! Tdev mentioned that only trusted users will receive access to the “super” ratings, and I think that’s a great idea, as it will encourage users to have better behavior in hopes of gaining access to the new ratings. It’ll be interesting to see how the devs decide who gets the new ratings, but I’m pretty sure it will be a few, well established users, who have gained some trust by the devs. If this holds true, then it will hopefully encourage long-term good behavior from a lot of users. Basically, I believe the new ratings will be given to long running users who consistently demonstrate good behavior. Because of this, newer users and less well behaved users will have incentive to be on good behavior. By making good behavior a means to a goal, I believe we will see a lot less trolls in our community. There are a lot of variables to consider with these new ratings, and I’ll be interesting to see how the devs work them out. I don’t want to speculate too much on the rankings right now, as they are not implemented yet, but I can already see some of the advantages and potential flaws. I trust the devs to make the system as effective as possible. The removal of the members tab: Honestly, the only thing I, personally, ever used the members tab for was the list of new users, as I would try to send a welcome message to as many new users as I could. I guarantee I missed at least 90% of them, and I never once got a response, so my efforts seemed somewhat futile. I still believe, however, that when a new, active, user joins the community, a nice welcome message, a link to some important info, and a link to an introduction thread would make them feel a million times more welcome in the community than as of now. I’ve already covered this before, so I won’t go too far into the details, but I think welcoming new users is a great idea. As the forum is getting a plethora of changes, I think it would be nice if an automated welcome message was sent to all new users. I feel bad asking the devs to work on another feature when they already have so much to do, but I believe new users should be welcomed, either by us users, or by an automated message. As for the other aspects of the “members” tab, I believe the leaderboards created far too much competition. This is a community, not a competition. There is no user that is inherently better than another, period. I think the birthday tab could be adapted into a little icon next to the user’s username when it’s his/her birthday. Maybe similar to the “staff member” badge, but it’s an icon of cake? Or even just adding the birthday module to the “forums” tab? I don’t want to make too many suggestions, as the devs workload is already very high right now, but i know many of you are very sad to see this module go. For the search bar, I don’t think we really need it. Sure, it’s more streamlined, but you can probably find the user you are looking for via the “forum search,” and if not, there’s Google. I think that was all, correct me if I’m wrong. Those are just some of my opinions, like I said before, I encourage you to present your disagreement! As long as it’s as a civil discussion, and not an argument, discussing differing opinions is extremely beneficial to working towards a common agreement. Especially if you are still resentful to these changes, I’m sure the devs will respond much better to a civil debate than an argument. Thank you for reading! ~~Rezia~~
I fully support the complete and total removal of all groups in order to stop clogging up the new threads with useless RP bullshit
Some groups like BeamNG Wiki Contributors groups are useful as they help with specific things such as updating and fixing the wiki. Most groups are pointless though.
Yes, most groups are useless or inactive, but the few groups that are still used an loved shouldn't be punished for all the "xX69robloxianXx's mod groop!"s that exist with no posts in three years. Get rid of the bad groups or the inactive ones, but let the good groups stay, and bring back the option to create a new group, which I have been trying to do for a non-roleplay reason for the past week.
why does that have to be a group either way it's not my problem like what what actual purpose do groups have just make a thread
Some things might require more than one thread, which would be a waste of space in the forums. Groups can have more than one thread about a topic. If you don't care about groups you never have to enter them, unlike the forums.
I'm for this change, but even if it is bad or good, its still a change to the forums, and changes happen. The devs have mainly been working on the game, and the thread, edit wise, has somewhat been forgotten in a way. What i'm trying to say, atleast they tried doing something to the forums, for better or worse. i'd say better tho
I just want them to bring back the "today's birthday" section. I'm completely indifferent to the "groups."
Wasting space in one area (New posts tab) wastes less space than wasting space in two areas (New Posts tab and Forums).
