neilogical tested this and thought the Skoda 130L looked a little light without the front seats. it was funny with his comments on wikipedia that it was in a foreign language... there is an option to have it English. the left hinging hood is so correct. There were a couple other cars that had this feature, as well as some hotrods. Anyway... sourcing more
There's something about these old communist cars that makes me feel happy, and terrified at the same time. The boxy styling and the rear engine, rear-drive configuration make this car a very interesting piece of automotive design, that I just can't help but to love with all my heart. Don't be fooled by the simple design and the seemingly harmless 1.3L engine, though. Light weight, soft suspension, thin tires, a short wheelbase, and above all, that swinging pendulum of an engine in the back, make for a very dangerous combination of mechanical parts. In my time driving around Jungle Rock Island, every corner was an exciting, and simultaneously terrifying experience: lift-off oversteer makes the beautifully sculpted USSR-era tail begin to slide out of control, and the lack of grip over the front wheels, coupled with the nervous handling inherent to a short wheelbase, makes countersteering a very tricky affair. I often made the mistake of attempting to induce oversteer with a flick of the wheel, or a particularly aggressive downshift, only to be rewarded with a terrifying sequence of snap-oversteer, ultimately culminating in this classic czechoslovakian family car quickly becoming embedded into the nearest tree. Purposely attempting to drift this car is like playing Russian Roulette, but with 5 bullets in the revolver. The trick to mastering this car at its limit is to think like a crazy czech rally driver. Constantly adjust the steering, throttle, and brakes for every situation. If the rear wheels even begin to look the way of oversteer, quickly put them right back in their place with a swift steering input in the opposite direction and a bit of throttle. Imagine driving this car like dodging a crazed meth head with a knife. A knife that he set on fire. Once you get the hang of it, though, it's extremely fun to drive. The fully independent suspension and excellent ground clearance make this car very capable on rough dirt roads, and the light weight coupled with the rear engine, rear-drive layout make for a rewarding "point-and-shoot" driving experience. Handling aside, the little skoda is a perfectly normal car, with a few of its own quirks and features that give it a rather practical character, like the green line on the tach that tells you where the engine runs the most efficiently, and the rear panel that comes off entirely for easy access to the engine, for any eventual repairs (which I've no doubt there would be, in a car like this). The styling is clean and simple, but by no means dull: look no further than the whacky striped seats on the inside, and the cheerful colors on the outside, for a little bit of totalitarian 1980s pizazz. Overall, I love this car: it's an beautifully endearing representation of human ingenuity, and a machine that's much more than the sum of its parts. As for the quality of the mod itself, it feels right up to dev standards. Even this beta release feels polished and high-quality, leaving little to be desired. My only complaint is the somewhat robotic engine noise, though that's hardly game-breaking. Genuinely fantastic work, this is one of the best cars I've ever seen in this game, and that's including official content
Are you from Czech Republick or why you do it. --- Post updated --- btw it´s great mod --- Post updated --- and please make rapid.
Lmao, that's the best comparison ever. If the handling on the 130 is so catastrophic with a proper trailing arm setup, I can only imagine what kind of chaos swing axles would bring to the table...
Its no really chaos, its more of don't even look on break or thortle if you are in the corner. there were problem with the original series of skoda from 1976 those had massive problems with oversteer thanks to the badly seted springs. Rear wheels had almost allways positive camber. Model on the photo is 105S with just 42HP and it still can do thinks like this.
