Swear filters can easily be bypassed its just you have to be crafty doing it to get past them, its annoying and why swear filters are not really used much

Wow, that's both rude and racist. I bet they're the friendliest people you would ever meet. *sarcasm* :\

I agree, that is a classic example of working around the system. By not putting a space in between the "g" and "n", that renders it unable to detect it as bad language.

Maybe, instead of a filter for all words, only specific words would be counted and, possibly changed to something else, as @FLyInG 2 YoUr SoUL said.

By specific words, I'm talking about the more offensive words, like Fuck I suppose...

But, there will still be people bypassing it, so yeah, bad idea...

I know of many special characters to bypass filters. No forum can block all of them specifically, so we'd have to resort to a broad/vague filter that will have many false positives if we choose to go that route. Keys posted a screenshot of a similar system in use with those game screenshots.
Even then, the bypass I see happening there involves the Spanish ! mark which is upside down, and looks like a lowercase 'i'. Such filters commonly exempt punctuation for some reason...

I don't think censorship is the answer here. Allow me to explain the logic behind my statement with a YouTube video.

TL;DW - Basically, filters can often over-block content, and people will always find a way around them.

Guys, guys, guys... save it. Please. These forum changes were done because the forum was becoming "very toxic" (tdev's words, not mine), and you're kinda proving his point. How about we all stop attacking each other, and instead just enjoy the game.

Anyways, since this is about Forum changes... could we look into having more notifications? That sounds a little odd so let me explain.

For instance, sometimes I miss things because I posted in a thead, and then someone else posted in that thread, but I don't get a notification that there was a post after my post. Once someone makes a post after my post, I would like a notification of it... just the one... any more posts after that don't need any until I have posted and then someone has posted after me again.

Now I know this is a feature already, and sometimes it works, but for some reason, it doesn't always work. Like for instance, this thread. I have numerous notifications of people quoting me, but I don't have a single notification from this thread of anyone just posting after I did. Yet other threads that I posted in today, have done exactly that.

Perhaps it's me and I have something messed up in my settings, but mostly, all I guess I am asking for is just consistency.

    Why not something like.

"@user, @user and # users replied to the thread: __________, there are # posts after this"

You'd get notified for each post, but when they appear in your inbox, they merge into one post.

One reason I dislike the forum for another game I play is how so many threads get locked from a 1 month inactivity timer. If someone wants to revive a topic, I would much prefer them to bump an old thread than make a new one. Imagine having a bunch of threads for a single topic because all the other ones got locked to prevent people getting annoyed at something as insignificant as seeing a time gap in the posts. The gap in time often isn't even important to whatever is being discussed. If the time difference is an issue, then the content of the bump post probably would be problematic regardless of if it was in a new thread or a bumped thread.

Yes, some people very annoyingly bump threads without contributing just to annoy people. Do y'all really think locking old threads will stop these people from making posts with intent to being annoying?..

yes it is, the amount of times i have seen people bump old threads is crazy, sometimes threads are bumped for no reason, which is called SHITPOSTING.
so yes it is important to this discussion.

And telling these people to be annoying in new threads instead of old threads will help how?

Exactly! I don't understand what the deal with everybody going crazy over bumps is.

Barely anyone actually reads the surroundings, it could be useful if it got into the poster's face and made them check off that they're aware of the age of the thread.

Maybe just lock them in the mods section. That's where bumping is worst, with people coming across dead mods from 2014 and saying "OHHH I want it! When b done?"

Other areas of the forums have less bumps and have a greater need for thread revival. (About game bugs or ideas or such)

The red box isn't as obtrusive as such warnings usually are, but I think it's enough to stop most people accidentally bumping. Since its addition most bumps I've seen are either contributing and unfairly shot down by people annoyed for no good reason or posted with active intent to be annoying; the latter will never be stopped with such a check box.

True. I'm still hesitant to say give them an automatic lock though, I've seen a couple cases where the mod is genuinely on hold (though they are definitely a minority). I would like to see an option for the OP to lock general users from posting. A couple pages ago someone mentioned that this would help authors with WIP mods that want a dedicated thread but don't want people spamming the thread.
