The MK4 is definitely over-rated, but I wouldn't say the previous generations are overrated by any means. In fact, the first Celica Supra is pretty much unknown to most fanboys. As for the MK2 and MK3, they aren't exactly underrated, but they do live in the shadow of the MK4 somewhat.
I actually enjoy Ford Explorers. One in my family had them, it was pretty comfortable until we had to trade it for a Altima Hybrid.
b-but...muh german engineering! Too bad they engineered these cars to break on purpose after 10 years.
somtimes they break even sooner espacially vws engines are notorius for that like the 1.4 TSI or the other 1.4TSI or the bmw 3 cylinder engine wich break at around 30k km
What else would you expect from a lawnmower engine squeezed to 100-150hp? By the way, AutoBild had BMW 2 Series with 3cyl B38 on their 100000km test and the average fuel consumption was 8.5 l/100km. Very economical. Also, I used to think a car can't sound unpleasant, but a ride in B38-equipped 2 Series proved me wrong.
Not many have these. They are mostly used for a big family. Maybe you've seen many, but I personally don't.
I'm guessing you mean 8.5L/100km? Either way that's an absolutely astronomical consumption, there are SUVs that use less fuel than that.
Yes, that's a typo, I meant 100 km. I don't think there are more economical SUVs though. Modern cars' official and actual fuel consumptions vary greatly. That BMW has officially 5.8l/100km, but actually 8.5, while some SUV that officially has 7.0l/100 km might actually have 10.
Yeah true. But 8.5 from a modern small displacement turbo engine seems way too high, even in a relatively heavy car like the i8, unless the engine is tuned for max power.
8.5l is what my superb with 280hp uses when i drive on the motorway so thats not good at all espacially when the 105hp skoda rapid of my mom only uses 5.2l on motorway and 6.5 in the city. Also the bmw autobild tested had a engine failure in the 100k test thats why i mentioned the bmw 3 cylinder
Then, some of the headlights are better than their previous gen. Also, I hate the decision to kill off Ford Australia and Holden.
