Ok, the metro is not that bad, but it is technically a sizuki, Wich are awful cars --- Post updated --- I'm surprised the roof hasn't caved in.
Thoughts of reputation? Well, Yugo here in Serbia enjoyes a very good reputation. It's still a very common sight (although import second hand cars replace it on the list of common cars). My father, and a lot of people here know that Yugo quality as Golf 2 for example, but for money you pay for it you got completely brand new car. In other cases you would only have money to buy some second hand car. Of course, there was a minor problems. For example, gas pad has once fallen on the floor, and that my father fixed for 5 minutes. So there were tiny brakedowns, but car was easy for maintenance, so that wasn't a big problem. Also, every car came with set of spanners. Here, even exist some Yugo fan clubs. These people restore and tune their Yugo, and there are some really fine examples.

"If the limit is 60 I'm driving 60, no matter what falls from the sky" way of thinking and very poor guardrail engineering (if you can't design a guardrail that can stop a Yugo, maybe you should quit your job for everyone's safety) were what killed her. 2.) You compare Yugo to CV and Stratus? That explains a lot.
I wasn't trying to compare them. I brought them up because those are the cars I've driven on highways with a 70 MPH speed limit. How could they even be compared to begin with?
Reputation tend to balloon by word of mouth, good or bad. The Yugo was simply not as bad as the over-exaggerated stories about it would make you think.
so the kinetic energy of it(which a guardrail should absorb) wasnt very high. The fact that it went trough the guardrail says more about the guardrail than the car.
Also, the Yugo is light, but not undriveably light. Seeing how many of my grandparents' friends have cars of such weight and haven't been pushed off roads by trucks, I'd say that either the story is a fake news, or the Yugo driver was hilariously bad.
Maybe it's because she tried to drive a Yugo like a Cadillac? It's a light car, you gotta drive it like a light car.
Or maybe she tried to drive it like the weather was calm and dry. But it wasn't- it was rainy and stormy.
How is Geo from Suzuki? I remembered that it's actually from GM, am I not mistaken? Also, WHICH Suzukis are bad then? Sure, they're not the best, but they have made good cars before.
Suzuki was part of GM. GM = "1 design, 15 models" The Geo/Chevy Tracker is another example of Suzuki-designed badge engineering exercise.
