    Zündapp is one of the oldest motorcycle makers of germany but they went bankrupt in 84 and not alot made it to the us mostly because they are often only a 50cc bike with a top speed of 30mph

    Minus that my project doesn't involve fixing a huge amount, so much as retrofitting gear that needs more than a bit of electronic know how :p

    Going to fit in hub electric motors front and rear, combined output is only gonna be an about 14hp, not going for major speed demon, but it will basically be a 2 wheel drive electric motorcycle

    That sounds cool! In wich motorcycle are you putting it in? Also i to have a project to do but i dont really have time or the willingness to start it

    I considered buying an early '70s Honda Cub not too long ago. It was a really nice robin's egg blue, ran, and only needed minor work to be roadworthy. Plus, you don't need a motorcycle license where I live for anything under 50cc. Eventually decided against it because I don't have the space.

    Honestly, going in whatever bike I decide has a reasonable condition frame etc at a good price at the time I can finally do it. I'm probably gonna build a mockup of the drive system soon on a *much* smaller scale as a bit of a feasibility study into synchronising the 2 motors. Unfortunately the motors I have been looking at are unlikely to leave me with split power distribution. Theyre the same RPM, both mechanical and electrical (there is a distinction with these multi pole brushless motors) so thats fine, but different torque, which is going to leave me with more power on the back than the front, probably perfect for riding considering the back has to do more work in a bike. Does mean synchronising the motors under full power application is gonna be a bit more interesting though, plus the change in load makes that kinda interesting. Thinking about developing a controller scheme in which the throttle basically controls the back wheel power level directly as you'd expect things to work, the front wheel will instead just rev match the back wheel.

    Honestly, lower torque at the front would probably be perfect seeing as breaking the front tire loose is a terrifying proposition. Granted... if you only said you had 14hp... that probably won't be an issue anyways.

    probably not no, but even so the back end will still be where you want most of it. Hopefully the idea would scale to bigger motors anyway, but its mostly a project for fun and probably to commute on, I work 4 miles drive from home and most of its 30mph speed limit, dont need a 100hp bike screaming the whole way.

    Also starting out, my motorcycle license in UK would be power restricted anyway

    Yeah, but some manufacturers still use ancient CPUs (dual core 1 Ghz etc). This does not work well with their unoptimised software. Most are probably running some outdated version of android like jellybean or something. God knows what will happen when a bug is found in an infotainment system, do you take it somewhere to get it flashed? I suppose so but even still it can cause issues.

    That's more powerful than Windows phone I had. 1.4ghz single core arm. 512mb ram.
    Updates vary in car to car. BMW is via gsm

    Actually a simple reason, 1 motor alone and in budget constraint isn't powerful enough, 2 motors and controllers for a combined 14hp is cheaper than 1 15hp motor, and it's just cool

    yeah true, it depends on the software really. But for example in the cars with model year 2008-2014 most don't have that kind of connectivity, any glitches in the firmware has to be remedied by visiting the garage or (uh oh) buying new Sat-Nav discs.
    Also why are map updates so darn expensive? Like a map update will cost over £100, what do they even include that costs so much money!
    Especially when the changes are only minor.

    It's weird the differences between cars within one country. I'm currently sitting in a Honda Civic at a farm in rural British Columbia next to an Acura RSX, a Mazda 3, and a Kia Rio. There's one older Ford pickup that belongs to the farm but that's it.

    Go to the city centre one province over and it's all lifted pickup trucks.

    (you can tell I was bored)

    You change your cars more often than a pretty girl changes her lovers. I bet both Infiniti and Fiero (if you buy it) will be sold by the end of 2018.

    At least I don't crash them monthly like another member here... I have payments on the Infiniti so, that'll be sticking around for a bit.
