I've been searching for an old Mazda 1300 for years, because I was often sitting in my uncle's rotten '72 1300 in the forest as a kid and dreamed of driving one some day. I tried to find the narrow body '72 or '73 model year 1300, but there are only 5 of them left in Finland and they are really expensive, so I bought this 1974 Mazda Marella 1300 FA3TS day before Christmas eve and I thought it would be ready to drive as it had passed the vehicle inspection a month before. But I was wrong. I had to replace centrifugal advance springs inside the distributor, clean the starter, replace the rubber clutch line and finally get the right rear spring main leaf welded, because it was snapped. New springs would cost 300 euros each and welding cost only few euros. The Marella is known as just 1300 or Familia Presto in other parts of the world. This car is also very rare in Finland. I believe there are only 15 of these widebody 1300's left registered now and this is one of them. I have never seen one on the road so the number is probably right.

The springs looked like this before I took them apart and brushed all the rust out of them.

Now after welding and cleaning they look like this.

I'll put them back on the Mazda tomorrow, if weather allows. I don't have any warm garage and have to repair my cars outside or in a cold barn and it was freezing today, almost -20 degrees celsius. After the springs are installed, only things to do before putting the Marella back on the road is to clean and bleed the rear drum brakes, change rear axle oil and change spark plugs. Currently the brake pedal goes to floor without any resistance unless I pump it few times.

Changed the front seats of the Omega, because the seat warmers were not working. Also because the original ones were all worn out.

Replaced crank position sensor in 2000 renault megane 1.4 8V. (My dad's car since I'm to young to have a license I only took it for a quick spin around the neighbourhood. It is still to slow to do any real harm... It barely spun in 1st gear on icy road :D handbrake works good tho!)

when you're lucky you can choose whether you want a short or a long plate, depending on how many letters you have

A couple of Hookers showed up at my door.

I'll be putting those in the 94 chevy this weekend.

I also found a puddle of coolant, so new intake gaskets on the same truck.
While I had it off, I figured I'd clean the intake. Enter gunk, lemon juice/dish soap secret recipe and steel wool.

Cleaned off the dust and juices with a hot shower.

Thanks ;) As a FWD car, this is very fun to drive, yet it's still comfortable for long distance highway cruising.

Technically yesterday as of 10 minutes ago, but I put skateboard griptape on the pedals. Definitely glad I did it, even with the non-skid shoes I wear I can definitely feel a difference.
