    Hello everyone,

I am new on this forum and wanted to enjoy the TechDemo of BeamNG.Drive. Unfortunately, it didn't happen.

When I try to launch the game, a cute pop-up tells me that the error 0xc000007b occured.

I downloaded the demo .zip file from the official site, and I already tried:
    - Install DirectX
    - Run as Admin
    - Solve compatibility problems (I'm running Windows 10)

I would truly appreciate some help,

    Thank you,

    KRZ

Along above, have you extracted the techdemo from the ZIP before launching it?
If yes, go to Documents/BeamNG.drive and post here the beamng.log file.

    I have a LENOVO YOGA (4GB RAM, 2.4 Ghz core i3, and a low/average graphic card)
    --- Post updated ---
I extracted the techdemo from the ZIP (in the Downloads folder)
There is no BeamNG.drive folder in Documents :/

My bad, techdemo does not use that folder.
The log should be inside the techdemo folder you extracted stuff to.

The techdemo is pretty old and doesn't have the newer feature that could help us help you (Support tool).
If you cannot find the logs, it means the game has crashed almost immediately.

0xc000007b usually refers to DirectX errors, so you may want to try to check that everything is fine on that side by running this:
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35
(If everything is already ok it would do nothing)

Then, to be sure, check that your antivirus and similar software isn't doing strange things and blocking the game.

    Ok, I'll try this.
By the way, I wanted to download the demo before purchasing the game in order to test the shock aborbers of this game. Let me tell you why :)

I'm a French student (1st year of college) and I want to study different types of shock absorbers, and I know BeamNG.drive is very realistic in terms of the vehicles' physics. So, I wanted to know if we could make some "custom" shock absorbers (change the settings of existing ones maybe ?), it would allow me to simulate many more situations than in real life !

Thank you again for your patience,

    KRZ

You can do a lot, this how you can adjust when you select racing suspension struts for the car:

Models are quite detailed, so you can see how suspension work and you can also import models to Blender:
    upload_2018-2-13_23-26-16.png

Of course that is just mesh presentation, real stuff is in nodes and beams, which you need to look when determining motion ratio, because you can't find wheel rates in game, you need to calculate motion ratio to be able to calculate correct spring rates and matching damping rates of dampers.

    upload_2018-2-13_23-39-54.png

Springs and damper values are defined in text files, you can see here damping settings:
    upload_2018-2-13_23-45-5.png

That might give you small idea to internal workings that might help you to know if BeamNG is usable for you. Currently there is no way to log damper velocities ride height etc. but I made a post to developer listing those among other things that would be useful to log, so if they find it feasible, there might be possibilities to log more data in the future.

Great thing about BeamNG is that it is real physical simulation, unlike many other games that do simulate dampers and many aspects, in BeamNG whole physics are simulated, so there are no odd reactions and pretty much anything can be built.

Now to issue you have running tech demo, it could be that your laptop's graphics card or integrated graphics is not capable of running BeamNG, but updating drivers should reveal that, also with 4GB of ram, some of the ram is probably used by your graphics card, so you might need 8GB ram to be really run BeamNG as at least 1GB is required graphics card memory, that would leave only 3GB ram for the game if your graphics card can reserve 1GB which is needed.

Hahaha thanks ! But we are not that bad in English (except for the accent, I acknowledge) :)

@fufsgfen Thanks for your detailed explanation of how BeamNG.drive physics works I will purchase the game ;)

Thanks to all of you for your kindness,
