    Totally agree that there should be a manual transmission if there is it has a chance of beeing my next private car

    An otherwise nice looking car spoiled by the rear end. What are those rear panels that are black plastic doing there. I wouldn't mind so much if it was hollow but it isn't. Saw one at a Honda dealer and it looks silly.

    Harder to modify.
    More complex (gearbox and engine bay space wise).
    Can't be made that fast because understeer.
    Not that much better in bad conditions
    There's a reason there aren't many FWD pickups and sports cars.

    *Edit: also MacCheapshit strut suspension instead of double wishbone(the sh*tty hybrid doesn't count)

    95% of people don't care about modifications
    Why do you need extra space in your engine bay, are you going to stuff it with illegal immigrants to get them across a border?
    Amount of understeer doesn't depend on engine power
    There are a lot of factors that allow FWD to gain advantage over RWD in bad conditions, let alone snow or mud
    There's a reason there aren't many tanks with wheels = wheels suck, tracks for the win. Fallacies are easy to make, aren't they?

    More space in engine bay = easier to work on.
    Understeer caused by the fact that the tires have to both steer and put power down, so even if you had 2000hp, a FWD car won't be able to match a 1000hp RWD car around a track, unless it's a straight line.
    Like? More weight on driven wheels? Let's go with your logic of the "95% don't care" and say that 95% of RWD cars have better tyres so they will perform better in all conditions.
    wheels on tanks compared to tracks aren't what RWD is to cars compared to FWD.

    Less space =/= not enough space. Many FWDs (e.g. Hondas, Golf) are tuner darlings.

    Oversteer can be just as problematic. Example: Top Gear track times, where a 250 HP FWD Ford Focus ST beats a 500+HP Shelby Mustang.

    Better tires... surprise, surprise... cost money.

    You basically guessed it, I drive a Sunny and I'm pretty happy with it.
    Does gearbox really take up so much space?
    That is torque steer not oversteer. Oversteer is when your car runs too wide in a corner because you were going too fast.
    Driven front wheels in a FWD pull mud/snow/sand under the car, allowing the car to go over rather than through the substance. Non-driven front wheels push the substance in front of them, where it builds up, and once a pile big enough to stop the car is formed, the rear wheels start spinning and digging the car in.
    FWD car's driven front wheels will pull the rest of the car in their direction, no matter what's under. RWD car's driven rear wheels will constantly try to push the heavy (assuming we have an FR car) front aside if the surface is slippery, sending it sideways.
    Why do you assume 95% of RWD cars have better tires than FWD cars? Applying logic I used for people to tires is just wrong.

    Lmao, just because someone makes an argument with valid points you have a meltdown? I'd agree RWD is better, but FWD isn't useless and my god lighten up a little.

    RWD isn't better. It is better for certain applications: as mentioned, pickups, sportcars...

    Then again, there's plenty other vehicle types that are much better served by a front wheel drive layout, like compact hatchbacks, MPVs... Anything where space-efficiency and compact packaging is fundamental, really...

    These are also the majority of vehicles sold, so, by this reasoning, RWD sucks. There is a reason why no hatchbacks are RWD! Even BMW gave up with it!

    Hell, fwd cars can understeer or oversteer, most are factory tuned for understeer deliberately, as are rwd cars these days. Bathurst, used to be impossible for the rwd cars to keep up with the fwd cars, they exit corners far more aggressively if you can get the turn in nailed

    FWD is better in everyday conditions. That's why, surprise surprise, normal everyday cars are FWD. There's this common thread among enthusiasts that every car has to be an enthusiast car, and the people that think that don't seem to realise that most people are not enthusiasts. Slow, practical, FWD cars with lots of tech better suit the needs of the vast majority of people. Just because those people are not you, doesn't mean they shouldn't be catered to.

    BMW 135i Coupe:
    -2007
    -RWD
    -1450kg

    Mini Cooper S
    -2014
    -FWD
    1200kg

    Even though the BMW is 150kg heavier and has longer wheelbase, it's faster around Hockenheim Short(there's no other track they both went around).
