But they didn't delete the problem? Deleting the problem would be ignoring it right? They fixed the problem instead by removing the feature entirely.(problem in this case being unnecessary clutter(some pages had 43 pages of dead memes and other stuff), more stuff to moderate in an ever growing userbase etc etc).

I do see the purpose of removing them, although I do see some benefits from them. Not my decision, though.

 

It would be nice if chat link at top would show number next to it, how many are in chat, maybe that would draw rapid discussions there instead of spam on forums?

Also if all this energy would be put into developing mods, we would have much more and better everything, as always.

 

What's so convenient about profile posts anyway?

It was more or less like communicating with your friends by spray-painting what you had to say on the front wall of their house instead of calling them on the phone...

 

To answer the above question, I found profile posts good as a chat feature. Good for topics the don't require a thread but still open to anyone to join in. Not a fan of discord/website chat.

I'm so sick of this. Not just the fighting, but also the inaction that leads to it. I apologize if these words come off very harshly, this is just how I feel about this whole thing.

Why do I come on here and see people fighting, pretty much daily? Why does this go on for pages and pages in a thread? And why do these people not get more than a "Please behave" notice?

These people are breaking multiple forum rules when they are doing this, and sometimes are even breaking the age rule, but it's always a "Please behave" notice

This stuff is frustrating beyond belief , because it doesn't just affect the forum. This stuff spills into the Discord (then in turn I get told the place is "too toxic" by people :|), and other social groups surrounding this game. It really doesn't make sense that this kind of stuff is spilling from the official forums, of all places.

It's gotten to a point where

• We've had a moderator ragequit
• Multiple members have left the forum, including multiple people who I would consider good role models on the forum
• You can count on there to be some sort of drama going on here daily

Not only is this a bad reflection on a community that I know there's still some good left in, but it's also personally killed off lots of my motivation to play/mod this game, and interact with the community, .

I posted this thread over one year ago, and there were lots of people agreeing here that the general attitude of this place is not nice, this was in 2016.

So I guess what I'm saying here is directed towards the moderators more than anyone. Please work on enforcing the rules to a higher extent, and try to make this place better for us. Because replying "report and move on" and simply deleting offending posts (sometimes without warning even) is clearly not accomplishing anything here.

You make so many valid points. The whole "report and move on" thing is also what I've been trying to say too. In all honesty, it frustrates me to see staff members continuing to use the "report and move on" mindset, when there's enough evidence to support that it is not working at all, and it's actively allowing things to get worse.

 

Oath mate. Weve had a few members leave here recently. There are some toxic buggers on here.

 

I'd say the lack of evidence is evidence enough. If it wasn't working, you would see many offensive posts and trolls.

EDIT: I do know that there have been incidents that happen when the developers are sleeping/inactive, but to solve that they only need to hire another moderator in an opposite time zone.

Where? They have all been handled as far as I know. Sorry to rain on your parade but there will never be a solution that can resolve issues here before they happen

 

I like the idea of hiring another admin. Maybe hire one here in OZ for the Southern Hemisphere. And there were offensive posts. Remember the guy Dean Wang. Apparently he left because he was getting bullied about his mods.

 

I'm pretty sure that it could have been prevented had a moderator been active. Threads could have been locked and warning points could have been issued.

 

Remember @Dean Wang ? He was bullied and left because "report and move on" didn't work.

 

Bullying has actually been a big topic here in Australia recently. A few big incidents have happened in the last few months and a few kids my age committed suicide. And before I moved to my new school that I'm at this year, someone from the grade below killed herself the day before school started. In fact on the first day, the school handed out a note saying she had died. She was told by a bully not to come to school and that no one liked her. What I don't get is how people even have the courage to say something that toxic to someone.
