I literally live in my office - I have a bed and a kitchenette in the back, just in case - and I reside in a country that has rights (well sort of). Sucks to be on call in the IT field.
That's outright illegal and you would have a valid case against them in court. Did you sign the 48 hour opt out? If not, exceeding that alone is illegal. You'd also have a case for unfair dismissal
Longest day I had to pull of was almost 72 hours, no extra pay, not even chance for eating, but man those streetlight poles were dancing wild at the end of that day. Of course that day did involve mostly driving with twice the allow legal load limit and using maximum speed of vehicle which was somewhat over legal limit. As had to take loan to move after the job it was either move to street or do the job. This all was in western world, in a nation which is held quite highly in regards of worker's rights, but there is always this layer that is kept hidden from most eyes, that is required for rest of the people to have their low cost services and happy cotton padded world. 48 hour long days were almost weekly occurrence, while weekends were limited to Saturday noon to Sunday noon quite often. Pay was around 1400 euros in a month in today's euro currency, while average income was around double of that in today's currency. Only lines of job that have very strong union made contracts have some certainty in worker's rights being somewhat decently happening in practice. In reality most of places will try to get as much out from you without paying as possible and you really have to stand up for yourself and say No, they will let you understand that No is not an answer they will take, but when you actually say that No and hold on to it, you will find out that they were just bluffing in order to gain little bit more benefit from you. It is sad that world works that way, but so it has always been, at least around me.
I feel the Paradise remake will be along the lines of Skyrim Special edition. More of a retexture then anything imo.
I'm always running out of space from my task bar, there should be at least three task bars to hold everything needed without it getting cramped. There is only half of running programs here. There is only 18 Excel workbooks, sometimes I would like to have ability to add small colored dot to them, but with 18 I can still keep track of which is which. I guess such cluttery would be horror to everyone else?
I'm surprised that I never seen cars like the Pinto, Five-Hundred, or Maverick anywhere I went around America, which isn't so much. (The only part of America I have been so far is from New Hampshire/Maine to Florida, in other words, most of the east coast.) I rarely see any Mustangs around, and C-MAX/S-MAXs aren't as common as Transit Connect Wagons.
If you think employer-employee relationship is unfair only when you are the latter, think again. My father works in a hotel and they had very hard time getting rid of the line manager. She deserved to be thrown out in every way possible, yet they could not fire her right then for a bunch of legal reasons. It was impossible to get the staff to work properly when she was in power. The last incident was when somebody threw used condoms all over a hotel room, maids did not clean the mess out, nobody checked their work and the guests demanded another room after finding a used condom in their bed. She did everything to stop or derail the investigation of this case, insisting the guests brought the condoms themselves. The day she resigned (she said she is fed up with being treated like that=like she deserved) was worth celebrating.
Soooo I just had a nightmare that we were BOMBED in America and I woke up to a ROCKET LAUNCH. THAT WAS SCARY FOR A MINUTE THERE.
Is it just my city (Fall River) that has Impalas, Malibus, and Prius IIs as taxis, or are there others?
You can expand the task bar upwards to create more rows. Right-click on the taskbar and unlock it, then simply go to the top edge and move it upwards with your mouse and don't forget to lock it when you're done.
Thanks, I know that already though, (used that on W95 already I believe), there are those little arrows in my task bar pic, which is used to change to next row, that way I can have bit more desktop space. Another thing is that moving taskbar to side makes it bit annoying to use it should rotate all the program icons on taskbar 90 degrees, but it does keep them oriented same way as they are when taskbar is at bottom, which just makes them take more space. At side double sized taskbar would work better, if icons would be small squares. These are issues with software that is designed to cater more of average user with no more than 3-4 programs running in task bar. For me minimizing amount of clicks and mouse movement is more important, so I get little frustrations with UI that has designed visual appearance and usage for average user in mind. BTW does anyone remember how to get alt-tab list to show small icons instead of those huge pictures in Win8? @Pacivica I think I see mostly Mercs as taxis,
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taxicabs_by_country For example in Norway 70% of bigger taxis (van type) are Mercs. Israel, NL, Germany for example have also a lot of Merc taxis. Merc E-klasse is perhaps most popular taxi vehicle in EU.
