So, apparently, we went through 110TB of traffic for the repository from the 1st of Feb so far D:

We will need to setup new CDN nodes to push all this traffic. Also, it's getting costly - we pay some amount per GB right now as they are all over the limit right now :/

Do you have regional data of downloads? That'd be interesting to see.

I think he forgot the lock, we are not supposed to write in this section.

Anyway, addition to regional data, number of repeat downloads per client might be useful data in optimizing data amounts.

I believe the message at the top is stating that devs can only post new threads, not that we can’t reply. Also, what happened to “edit”? Would’ve been useful on this post.

If you were to put a download speed cap on the in-game repository (Something like 8 Mb/s) it could help lower traffic a little bit and marginally help TB of downloads decrease monthly.

I don’t know if the BeamNG repo has this or not, but if it doesn’t, you could throw on a “Slow down! You’re downloading files too fast! Wait 60 seconds” like the Rigs of Rods repo.

Well 110 TB in 26 days... Thats quite a bit. Maybe limit how many mods people can download at once?

Well hey, it shows that mods are popular for this game...

As to what you should do about it, a download limit per day like rocksim suggested would probably help.

Some sort of limit could be helpful, but I wonder how much (if any) of the demand is transient due to earlier issues with the repo. If this is the case, demand might return to more reasonable levels once people have redownloaded all the mods they had earlier.

110 TB of data downloaded in barely one month... Being a curious person, how does this amount compare to previous months?

I've noticed that RoR has a time cooldown if you download too many mods at once. I suggest limiting each user to maybe 1 GB an hour or something?

The most I have are about the 300MB mark mostly I guess the really dense maps could be touching 1GB in size yes, but it depends on how large the map is and stuff
