Unless youre using your phone to download anything (my phone has a 70gb download limit, after that every gb costs), there is no limit in Sweden. Im using one of the basic 100/10 which cost me approx $40/month, might need to upgrade to 100/100 or 250/100 to get the once-in-a-while hickups away on the tv.
It doesnt cost the supplier extra if you use it on and off or if its constantly trafficing the line (if your computer is on its probably using it constantly anyway) so they dont charge based on that over here.

This is not accurate, but roughly there, I was too lazy to check where every small nation belongs to, but should give some idea of how big or small those areas are:

Hopefully I haven't made gigantic mistakes.

I also think that a higher quality standard for the mod repository would help.
I mean, I really appreciate how this game motivates people to mod, but some stuff that's being approved is just a pure waste of brandwidth.

I'm not gonna call out anyone but I really suggest to sort mods, which dont meet certain standards, out in order to save space/brandwidth whatever and clean up the repository a bit.

Take a look at racedepartment's Assetto Corsa mods ; what we see there is usually pretty high quality and I think this could be used as a good example for our repo.
The lower quality things usually appear on alternative pages anyway

an imo important detail, and a win-win

I'm a bit confused as to why there even is mod approval if it just lets everything in. I mean I've seen mods with no materials and cars with the rear door removed being released as "mods"..

All they do is make sure the console throws no big errors, it doesn't overwrite anything, and it shows up.

    If mod doesn't get approved:
    "Basterd devs, limiting modders! Boo!"

    If mod gets approved:
"Basterd devs, everything goes through! Boo!"

You got wrong idea of the approval thing.
It's not there to limit people, or giving the middle finger to less experienced or new modders.
It's there to make sure that mods work, and that they do not break the game and that is suitable for the repository (ie. Trademarks/Copyrights).
Else we help/guide the modders through it.

Ratings are here to separate bad mods from the rest. That's why you should use them properly, and not use them carelessly (ie. "Your mod sucks, GTFO/KYS/Stop modding" kind of reviews, rather than giving constructive criticism)

Of course, we still reserve the right to (and do) block the approval if a mod is has evidently no quality in it (ie. A skin made in MS Paint pen tool).

Anyhow, let's please not go offtopic.

The problem with current ratings system is that even the lower quality mods like my h35/45 vanster mod easilly get all 5 star reviews with occasional 4 star review.
It would be cool to see the moderator review.
It would be given upon mod approval.

While that's a nice idea, it may further slow the mod approval process if every mod had to be tested and rated by them.

In theory they have to test every mod anyways.

Just a quick idea, maybe there could be "developer's choice" category on repo, instead of 2-3 featured mods, that would add the "quality" mod category...

I'd like to see a big selection of "featured" mods.

One idea for ratings would be to add a way for other users to rate reviews as helpful. That would help add weight to good reviews and encourage people to elaborate on their ratings.

    Good to know.
The game updates are way more essential tho than a slight support for a big popular mod, so I wouldn't say the case is closed because of that experience.
The game has a bigger community since then, so we'll see.
If it doesn't work out, then it won't hurt anyone, so it can come and go and most of the people never had issues since the main server was nonetheless online

And unhelpful as well, far too many 5 star reviews for mods that are undeserving.

Don't most map mods include a copy of the default game assets? If so, maybe that is something to look into. Whether that is a directory that mods can point towards in game, or writing some server code to flag files identical to game code and only transmit new data with a flag to duplicate old data on the client. Might be able to cut costs and download times that way.

This problem happens in the game content itself too. So maps that share the same texture need to be duplicated.
We are thinking about adding an asset manager, so official content and mods can use whatever files and also point to a specific version to not break compatibility
