There is one of the mixed tracks, the one with the really wide u-turn, that (if you pull it off) you can launch off the last corner and land on the ledge towards the finish line, completely avoiding the entire last turn. Only issue is that you mash through the billboard unless you're in a low car.
There's another track that you can ride the entire ridge alongside the main track for the first stretch and avoid most of the turns.

Yes, I did that on a mixed track. What's the 2nd track that you speak of? I'm very curious

I'll tell you tomorrow for sure, but I'm pretty sure its one of the really long tracks.
There's another shortcut on the track with the really big jump right before a turn, right before the finish line. You can go left of the jump and through the flat grass valley, this lets you accelerate through to the finish line without having to drop a gear for it. Granted, if you have a car with high cornering, it isn't really worth it.
Maybe I'll make a little video with all the shortcuts I know, idk.

Edit - It would be nice if Bugbear would give the tracks actual names.

Thanks, I would love to know which track exactly you speak of. You know, gotta try hard when I get back into it lol.

Well, it wasn't until just a few months ago that the cars were changed from AM1, AM2, Am3, AM4, EU1, 2 etc... I can only imagine they will follow suit with the tracks before final release :D

Okay. I've got a bunch of the shortcuts I know. Some are only really useful online, some don't really save much time, others save a ton. I can only remember a few of the tracks... ugh.
Wreckfest: A Guide to Corner Cutting

Sandpit 2? This is the worst I've ever done this one. Normally, you dip into the ditch on the left and it slings you onto the ridge. Sandpit 1

This one is more useful for stiff suspension. Keeps your speed up and guides you into the turn better.

Only really useful on cars with high acceleration. Bugbear made this a PITA with the tire walls. Mixed #?

You can also just cut the embankment over the tires if you're scared. Hammerhead sucks at this jump because the back end flies up every time. I've had most luck with the MudDigger and the classic muscle cars. Hit this jump wrong and you'll pay for it. It is a very precise angle to take. Pay attention to the road patch and aim slightly right of the tent. Hold right upon landing or else you'll jump straight over the tires into the wall.
    Mixed 4

mustang is an idiot. For cars with bad cornering, take this turn really wide. Upshift through the tires at the bottom to avoid getting spiked. Mixed #?

This is a fun one online. Nobody ever expects it. Not really time trial worthy unless you have a high accelerating car. Tree to the left has collision, trees to the right have rocks underneath them. Mixed #?

This is a pretty common one lol. Tarmac 3

This is the ridge I was talking about. Bugbear nerfed it, you used to be able to go flat over it but they made it bumpy. Sandpit 1?

Another pretty obvious one. Tarmac 1

The bump is important, if you hit it wrong you'll land cockeyed on the embankment. Tarmac 1

Only useful on the second lap. First lap there's so much junk to smash through. Tarmac 1

Hammerhead doesn't do this one justice. Car with high top speed = giant straight line at max speed. Sandpit

Really cool. I honestly never really thought of some of those and I still question with bumps if some of them are worth it. It really depends on your car and car setup for some of them, however close to half of these I had known about before. I have to say that you probably know more shortcuts in this game than anyone I've met, or at least seen anyone use. Cool beans man

I'm totally guilty of using the tree shortcut all the time. I've almost got it to a science. Everybody is coming off the turn and suddenly a car bursts forth from the trees and slams into you.
There's a bunch more but I can't get streamable to let me upload any more for some reason.

Totally. Assuming Bugbear's servers don't spontaneously go kaput again.

I found out that you can't keep up with a good driver withoit having max tune these days. Used to be that if you didn't havr the skill you went with bclass or low a class and you could keep up if you were good enough. Now if you don't have 240+ rating you're only beating poor drivers. In my experience, but still grinding away.

Really? Weird, online lobbies for me have been split 20% high-performance cars, 80% cars in the mid-to-high B range. I haven't had too much issue with other cars.
The MudDigger and the Speeddemon have an interesting specialty, it is great at soaking up blows to the rear without freaking out. I always run lower level cars so I spawn closer to the front, and then just brake check everybody who tries to overtake me. Don't wait for them to catch up to you, deny them the ability to altogether by reacting first. Nobody ever seems to expect it, maximize acceleration and you're basically a rolling one-man blockade. Run a beefy rear bumper and full rollcage too so the back doesn't implode.
Play mind games on the corners, if someone is obviously going to hit you hard drop to neutral but don't hit the brakes until they've hit you otherwise you have no steering capability. Only thing is that you have to get used to both dropping a gear as soon as they hit you and not letting them hit your back-corner. Having reverse mapped to a controller button is key here because the game only lets you reverse while the button is held, otherwise you're in neutral. If you get spun, you can quickly go into reverse and right yourself.
If somebody is passing you out of a turn clip their back-corner, downshift, and gas it. That way the game lets you maintain momentum while maximizing the spin you apply to the other car.

So far the Speedemon has been the best car I've used. A class engine with heaviest rear bumper, full rollcage, mesh windows, and a smaller front bumper. This should be in high B rank. One tick above smallest gears, one tick below locked diff, and one tick below stiff suspension. I've never played with brake bias. This setting gives you a car with fair strength, great acceleration, good top speed, and is firmly planted to the ground. Only major issue with it is that U-turns are a bit sloppy because 2nd gear is too fast to drift properly but 3rd is too slow so you end up either going too slow through the U-turn or having the back end fly out on you. lol

Then don't worry about the straights, perfect cutting the corners and you'll catch up to them. And once you do, don't let them pass you. Alternatively, you can do what I do. Look around at the start and look for the fastest car there and don't let the bastard leave the starting line in any gear other than reverse. ;)
Deal with the faster cars early on so you only have to catch up with the slower runts.
Once time I was in front of a group of 8 people at the start. Held the brake and handbrake, let most of them pile up behind me, and then I took off shifting gears like I was wringing its neck. lol

You're a regular vet, damn. You should hold a clinic for all of us BeamNGers (Have to be careful with that one) so that we can dominate some scrubs. Lol, I was having a decent time tonight, just trying to grind up to that level 17 so I can put a real engine in the damn car. NOthing like having over 300,000 credits and not being able to upgrade your car...

Good too see a couple fellow fiends in here. I have maxed out at level 50 and have ample credits to spend. I'm still working through the career though and as for driving cred still a bit of a noob.
Fully intend on going online as soon as I get my PC internet settings tweaked.

I have to say after level 50 things get a bit boring but online, finishing the career and mods should help keep the interest going. I also intend on joining the forums to give feedback.
Don't have a favorite car yet and still figuring out how the classes work to optimize every race. Right now I can just about dominate every race in career on novice.

If you look at the right hand side when you go into the server list, it'll show somethig like [Verifying ##%] this process generally takes at least 30 seconds for me, probably more if you have a slow connection. May just have to refresh the lobby list when it finishes verifying to be able to get in.

Edit: Just to be clear, you will not be able to enter a lobby until the verification process is complete. I am not saying you didn't notice this, but I was surprised by how it seems to take longer than it used to for myself. Possibly more files to check nowadays.

Word, you probably already know, but I like to see more people online always, because it's one of my favorite online games. So here is a link to the forums.
