I would assume they are busy and don't forget they don't just click approve it has to be tested before it gets approved and depending on how many mods have been submitted it may take several days.

Because the Repo guys are human too. They work hard, and have to look in-depth at each and every mod to assure quality standards are maintained. Every now and then, there's a little pause in mod approval because they're busy with more important game-related things. They can't just sit there 24/7 and hit approve on every little thing that comes in front of them, they have a responsibility that they have to uphold in addition to also having to sleep, eat, and do other human things too.

Because there are people who check the mods before they become available on the repo. Depending on the size of the mod it takes time to check it all.

I uploaded a prop mod yesterday at 6pm, and It still has not been approved yet. Its a small file too.
They need to check to make sure its not harmful or anything and add descriptions and make it work on the in game repo. Maybe not the repo that might work because its in the section, but they also add other things like the thumbs on the page in the file.

Most of that stuff is automatic, there is no point doing all that by hand for every single mod. On an unrelated note, I feel mods are taking a bit longer to be approved than previously, there might have been a change to the process or smt.

As mentioned above me, mods need to be checked one by one. Not only if they work, but if they could cause issues on the long run.
Some automatic stuff is there, but that's just to help the guys get a general view of the mod (ie. automatically test the mod and checks if there's any fatal errors coming from it).

Said that, just give it time, as there are often multiple mods in queue (along with updates), which takes time to go through on by one. Also mind that the repository is not their only task.

I'd rather see mods that have been thoroughly looked through be approved, even if it takes more time to do so, and results in a mod or 2 of mine being rejected the first time around so that things can be fixed if that happens.

Keep up the good work, I know that the repo isn't the only thing that has to be looked after. I'm liking where the game's going so far, and I'm excited for 0.12! ;)

pending-mods means it's on hold for the moderators to do something with it (for example check the mod)
pending-author means it's on hold as they are waiting you to do something (for example you were asked to add pictures or fix something)
