Just had the weirdest race... Using my taxi Rammer with 16 other people on Mixed 5. Around the first turn and I'm already in first from 7th. Everybody stays behind me fairly close (3-5 seconds) and then out of nowhere I'm 12 seconds ahead of second. Nobody ever caught up with me and half of the lobby time-DNF'd. All of the racers except me just like... stopped mid-race? lol It was so strange because I thought for sure I had DC'd at some point or something but no, I ended up actually winning with like 10 seconds ahead of everyone else. It was almost too fast.
For some reason I can never join any multiplayer games, ever. I've tried many times, it just says, "client version or data does not match server's." Singleplayer is pretty fun, though.
VintageBeef uploaded a Wreckfest video today and included the word "sophisticated" in the description. Not a word I ever associated with the game.
"sophisticated", not by a long shot. Is it me or do AI vehicles get the same handling tweaks I do for my car?, sure seems like it but there's no way to tell that I know of. Also, I can't find a way to make my wireless 360 controller stick as default?
I remember seeing videos of this back before it was "Wreckfest" and it only had the one car driving around in the sandbox place. I'm impressed on how far it's come since then, and I plan to buy if when it comes out for xbox later this year.
I believe the first playable version had American 1 and Euro 1, but you could only play American 1. They are trying to finish up PC soon and after that they will work on console.
I'd say so. Overall I'd imagine Wreckfest relies much more heavily on GPU performance whereas Beam is extremely demanding on the CPU mainly, with the GPU not too far behind. It should be said though that Wreckfest is also a fair bit more optimized than Beam, so you can probably find a nice graphical configuration that runs the game comfortably regardless of your computer specs. In fact, I run with medium graphics across the board because I think high graphics in Wreckfest make the game look too "busy."
The beautiful foil to the top-speed cars... Tristar w/ A class everything and full defense. Locked diff, stiff suspension, slight rear brake bias, normal (or semi-short) gearing. Nothing out-accelerates you and you can take every turn flat out with a quick e-brake pull. In other news, the Tristar is also very difficult to use with HUD disabled because the engine doesn't really sound different from 4k and up. I have no idea what gear I'm in half the time
You don't use HUD? I use it for reference on speed, because sometimes you feel faster than you are simply because the car is harder to control with too much wheel speed. But that's cool man. The more immersive, the better!
Really, it is just a compromise. If Bugbear made a low-profile HUD with just gear, MPH, and position, I'd really prefer to use that. Only reason I use no HUD is because the game does a fair job at displaying everything even without a HUD (ie when things start smoking you know your car is really damaged). The only issue arises with cars that have quieter/monotone engines that don't sound different at different RPM, like the Tristar and other inline-4s.
The second event in this series... that blue/tan Nexus RS has got to be the most infuriating AI in the entire game. Only way I ever won the race was by deliberately killing him at the start, otherwise he'll slam into you at every. single. turn. You know an event is difficult when you find you muttering to yourself "stay back there you little bastard rice rocket" at every corner. Absolutely rage-inducing. Edit - I have gotten my revenge against the toothpaste-and-orange juice car
I'm curious what difficulty settings you use @DuneWulff. Have you raced Mopower and his Starbeast?....like a bolt of lightning!
Manual clutchless, driving assists disabled, expert AI. I haven't seen anyone from here online. What servers do you guys join usually?
Currently I just go through the multiplayer selection in the game. I think they are mostly user created servers but some of them are well behaved and mature. I have no idea what else is available yet. I just happened upon a server that had a user named "Mopower" so I assumed it was him...right?...lol. @JBatic, a weak internet connection might be an issue? I once had a similar problem but it corrected itself somehow. I do know playing this online with a high ping rate makes for some really annoying and weird glitches that kill races.
I usually join the server called Crash N' Boom (or something similar lol). It has "only one rule - no rules" in the description.
