eh? No. The CPU is not more powerful than the GPU. The ''problem'' in BeamNG is that the CPU has to do all calculations while at the same time feeding the GPU.

I get 41+ FPS with the buggy on the Insane Test level. GPU still doesn't budge.

What ridiculous combination are you referring to exactly?

You dont have a clue do you...

In terms of total data throughput, a GPU is *WAY* more powerful than a CPU. Its just a GPU is made up of hundreds of smaller cores which individually are pretty weedy whereas a CPU is made up of a small handful of more powerful cores instead.

None of intels current core i7 lineup break the 0.2 teraflop boundary (one of the principal measures of CPU performance) even when overclocked, in fact the core i7 4770K at 4.6ghz hits precisely 100 gigaflops. For comparison, an NVidia GTX460 manages 1.4 teraflops. Hmm, modern CPU vs out dated GPU and the GPU is more powerful by a factor of 14... 14 times more powerful. The GTX Titan achieves over 4.5 teraflops.

Per core though, 4770K your looking at 25 gigaflops per core (its a quad core, 100 gigaflop total throughput divided by 4) vs the GTX460 being more like 4.1 gigaflops per core (336 cores, although comparing CPU cores to GPU cores is also rather difficult for various reasons).

GPU's can do massively parallel tasks with ease. But single tasks requiring extreme overhead they cant do to save their lives. CPU's are the exact opposite, but overall still cant crunch as many numbers as a graphics card can.

Great contribution to the community, thanks very much.

You complain that people just stop replying to threads so
forgive me for thinking you would come back and clarify
    your point.

you're welcome, glad you followed what i said in the first place which was impressive given how hard that must of been for anyone else.

I mean, i could of been talking about so many different things when i quoted your post which was quoting a post about someones pc setup not getting good fps. this 'ridiculous combination' could of referred to anyone in the world couldn't it?

plz idk what you're all butt hurt about, you quote somebody saying they get low fps and act like its a mystery to why. their specs aren't balanced plain and simple so what are you upset about. get over it.

sorry i didn't visit the forums more today, im already here too much.

I knew what you were saying, though I could hardly believe it,
which is why I asked you to clarify that you were indeed stating
that an FX6100 and an R9 280X is a ridiculous combination, and
that it's obvious why he only gets 20fps with said combination.

Thank you for finally clarifying my confusion.
