Thanks for the offer. I'll get back to you if I need any help, like WinnebagoMan, who has a stock SE model:
Yours looks like a good reference for aftermarket parts, and may I ask, is your exhaust modified? I was thinking of getting sounds from my 2000 4.0 which has one cat and a center muffler, the pipe about 2.5" thick from front to back. I think you can change the sounds for uprated parts, so if I made an uprated exhaust, I'd be happy for you to make some samples.
I'll also let you know if you can be of any help with the model or textures, as like I said to WinnebagoMan, the 97+ XJs' stickers and such may be different. I do know that the interior is very different to mine, so I might get back to you two on that when I get to modelling it.

    You'd be surprised actually :p
I've been a bit quiet as I've been busy looking at many stripped, rotten and even completely cut out body shells and floor pans to model the car from the outside in, and that's what I'm doing right now.
I've started at the door shuts, working my way down to the inner floorpan which I'll join up to the outside of the floor and weld to the uniframe.
Thankfully the floorpan construction is relatively simple, and not too difficult to model. The front of it joins with the firewall/bulkhead, which makes up the space behind the dash and at the back of the engine bay, and that joins onto the front of the front door shut and the bottom of the scuttle.
So I've really got a very good idea of how everything is structured all the way through the front :)

The front fascia is also somewhat modelled but not finished; I figured it's better to do the frame first as it's more time consuming and important.

I also thought up some trim names yesterday, some of which are quite amusing. There are one or two little 'easter eggs' (not that kind, I'm not late :p) in there for some of the Jeep enthusiasts that others may not understand.

    Cherokee___________Blackfoot
    Base________________Base
    Chief________________Commander
    Pioneer_____________Overland
    Pioneer Olympic____Overland Olympic
    Laredo______________Rosewood
    Sport________________Sport
    Briarwood__________Oakmoor
    Country_____________Yama
    UpCountry__________Fujisan
    Wagoneer___________Buccaneer
    Wagoneer Limited___Buccaneer Special

    Comanche_________Chinook
    Base_______________Base
    Chief_______________Commander
    Pioneer____________Overland
    Pioneer Olympic___Overland Olympic
    Laredo_____________Rosewood
    Eliminator_________Gladiator

The Comanche has been named the Chinook, another native American tribe, which also ties in with the armed forces seeing as 'Chinooks' are also a type of twin-rotored (not rotary engined) infantry helicopter.

'Yama' means 'mountain' in Japanese and 'Fujisan' means 'Fuji Mountain' which is the tallest mountain in Japan

I also noticed another Jeep reference, which was the Gladiator name.

This is the Gladiator, which is also an pick-up. Sneaky find...

Nice find! :p That was intentional as one of the throwbacks of the 'easter egg' trim names.

Well, I could just imagine what that trim could look like on an Comanche.

Do note that it's just its name :p, it's meant to be the equivalent of the Eliminator trim of the real MJ:

Although to be fair, a Townside/J10/J20 front end isn't a bad idea for a face swap late on :D

    Good news!
I've solved the problem of the flexmeshes not loading, it turned out to be the actual vehicle archive/folder (something about the mod itself, not the JBeam files, oddly) at fault, as if I used the same (albeit updated) chassis mesh swapped into another unpacked mod's JBeam file, it works perfectly fine. I don't know if this was something caused by 0.12 or maybe even dodgy naming, but that doesn't really matter any more.
What matters is that I can get meshes in-game now! :p

Some progress has been made, but none of it finished enough to show here. I will be updating the thread on any completed parts that I make, the next being etiher the front end (the frame part of it, the insides behind all the panels, engine bay and such) and/or the floorpan. With that done, and a few more tweaks to the unibody, we could possibly have a rolling (maybe even driving) shell by Wednesday.

Thanks! :D I'm looking forward to it completed too.
Just to prove it's working, here's a shot of some unfinished (and old, the newer ones are more developed than these) meshes in-game:

    A quick size comparison:
The Gavril Roamer 4WD XT lined up with the Blackfoot. The full length of the Blackfoot would include bumpers, so try to picture about 1/4 of the length of the windscreen hole added to either end. Even so, it's quite small compared to the Roamer.

Hi, I just joined and will be picking up the game soon as I did not realize how much potential this game has. Also, the modding community seems very active.

I love the XJ. Looks like you've done some great work so far. I'm a little butthurt it's the older body style but i'll still enjoy using it once the mod is complete.

Gotta show off my, now sold, 98 XJ Classic:

    Glad to hear it!
The inside of the pillars and sills have been updated, and are down to the level where I can start work on the floorpan.
    upload_2018-4-10_20-29-58.png
The frame has also been altered to better match the prints, and I'm glad to say that it lines up absolutely perfectly with the bodyshell.
Of course, the front of the frame is yet to be completed and boxed in, but I'll do that with the rest of the bay since that's once single piece (basically).
The structural braces in the back of the frame are also yet to be modelled, but they're easy.

Dunno why, but I like the way you cut up the blueprint... It's an interesting way to model off of it :p

The frame blueprint is actually separate from the actual car's one, but I don't think you meant that.
Yes, I did remove the edges of it to try and make it clearer to visualise where the models need to be. And it does work surprisingly well.
The only real downside of this is that scaling can get quite difficult, and positioning too, for example I had to model that front support for the front wing (fender) in order to find where the top of that inner wing on the print lines up.
But once everything is scaled and positioned, it works quite nicely as a guide.
