Hello everyone! I have decided to make a 1:1 scale BFR for beamng. This is my first mod, so im not sure how it will turn out. Let me know if you have any suggestions. Here are a few screenshots of my progress so far: DesktopScreenshot20180408-11321707.png DesktopScreenshot20180408-11324764.png DesktopScreenshot20180408-11465238.png

Progress Update 2: Sorry i dont have much progress, i was kind of busy with other stuff today. Anyway, i added the delta wing to the second stage. I know it looks a bit weird, im still working on it. I'll have more progress tomorrow. DesktopScreenshot20180408-21041499.png DesktopScreenshot20180408-21092610.png

Progress Update 3: A SpaceX Falcon rocket is not complete without gridfins! Theyre not 100% accurate to the real BFR, but that's not a big deal.
    DesktopScreenshot20180409-10551124.png DesktopScreenshot20180409-10553588.png
I also made some small changes to the delta wing.

Progress Update 4: Added landing gear bay to the second stage. Once again, its not 100% accurate, but its difficult do to, since there are no actual blueprints of the rocket.
    DesktopScreenshot20180410-10043653.png

Progress update 5: After spending many, many hours trying to learn jbeam, i finally have managed to get the rocket in-game! It still needs a LOT of jbeam work, and the white texture is just temporary. Here are some screenshots, so you can see how absurdly massive this rocket is. (Keep in mind, this is modeled to the exact size of the real rocket)
If you look closely, there's a bus down there!
    1.png 2.png
Here's what it did to the mighty bus...
    3.png 4.png
As you can see, the BFR is taller than almost everything on WCUSA.
    5.png 6.png

Progress update 6: It has been a while since the last progress update. I was busy with a lot of things, so i didn't have much time. I started working on it again, and i have made significant progress, although not much of it is visible in pictures. The rocket is capable of flight now, and has the correct weight of the real BFR. I made a lot of adjustments to the Jbeam, and everything is tuned just about right. The only thing left to do with the Jbeam is to fix some weird ugly glitches at the bottom of the rocket by adding support nodes and beams for each engine bell. The rocket also now has a material for the heat shield, and soon i will add a material for the engines. Also, the rocket has no fire or sound for the engines, but i plan to add this in the future. Once i work out all of this stuff and when i think the mod is good quality, i will upload it to the repository. Here is a picture of the new material:
    BeamNGdriveScreenshot20180501-15341095.png

Small update: Made the heat shield material darker and added a material for the engine bells, no pictures yet.

Progress update: Before i try to release it on the repo, i want to put a version of the mod here in the forums for you guys to experiment with and provide feedback. Be warned: the quality of this mod is definitely not perfect, but i don't want to spend too much time on this right now because i have other things i want to get done. Like i said before, this is more of an experiment to help me learn Jbeam and to explore the game's capabilities. I have several BeamNG projects in store for the future, and knowledge of the mistakes i made while creating this mod will help me produce better quality mods in the future. Here is the file, please tell me what you think about it and what you think needs to be done. Things i am aware of: due to the simplicity of the engine bells' jbeam paired with the complexity of the engine model, there is sometimes severe spiking when the rocket lands on its' engines. Also, the rocket is a bit wobbly after it bumps into something, and it looks a little weird. There is also some mesh at the top of the delta wing that has no nodes attached to it, so it wobbles around a little bit too. The file that i'm uploading is a version of the mod that does not include the control thrusters at the top, because i am still working out some issues with those, but the main engines are working. Press and hold "T" to lift off. One more thing, at the moment there is no sound or particle effects for the engine, so flying it is an eerie and silent experience. I am working on fixing these things at the moment, thus the "WIP" in the title. I want to strongly express that this does not represent the way the mod will be when it is finished. A lot of the things are just placeholders for now. It is really, really difficult to come up with a result that looks good when you are trying to make a vehicle this large and heavy.

The name for the rocket has been decided by the community. "Large Interplanetary Transport For All Merchandise" won the final vote strongly.

When you spawn the rocket, make sure you click "replace current" or else it will be partially consuming your current car. Also use Shift+C once it loads to go into free cam.

To do: (RED = not yet started BLUE = WIP GREEN = Finished )

    3D Model (100%)
    Textures (100%)

    Jbeam (85%)
    Engine fire and smoke
    Engine sound

The jbeam and textures need a ton of work, but here is the rocket in-game:

At the moment, the jbeam is quite terrible. The rocket is wobbly when its standing up, so i need to improve the support structure on the inside and increase the beam stiffness. Like i said, it still needs a lot of work. When i'm close to finished with the jbeam, then i will show screenshots of it. As far as making it fly, I plan on adding thrusters to the main engines and smaller rcs thrusters in various places to control it during flight. However, the two stages will not be able to separate. Also there are no FPS issues so far, so i don't think anyone needs to worry about it not running well on lower-end systems.

Is it just me, or do you think Elon Musk made the name Big Falcon Rocket because it sounds like "Big F***ing Rocket".

Thats what i thought when i first heard of this rocket XD. In reality, its called that because it is the successor to all the rockets currently in the Falcon series, and because it is really, really big.

Woah, it's actual real sized (i guess it says 1:1 scale for a reason). Mine isn't the actual size of the real FH, Just a shrunken down version for a bit more fun i guess.

Yep. This rocket is massive. Having it be the true size of the real rocket is making it very difficult keep the jbeam stable though.

I will most likely have it finished by the end of this month. I'm busy with other non-beamng related projects as well, so that's why it could take that long.
