    Thanks guys :).

This will be the last I4 petrol sound for a while now as I believe the selection we have covers the majority of vehicles for now :). That's not to say I'm done, just to say that currently I've made enough for now!

Coming up are two diesel sounds, one from a Audi and one from Renault which I need to test work in game well otherwise I may use the old sound mod method with sbeam.

Next up will be a classic V8 sound, a V6 sound and possibly a very old sounding engine and something completely unique so stay tuned, keep supporting me anyway you can with samples, feedback or donations and more fun stuff will come :).

Mirror link for cosworth sunburst sound mod: https://mega.nz/#!mclSyY4B!hF-eJhHERNMoPRaQlNnT6-C5FrCZ9LgvZIEPs8nBGA8

Added to front page too of course, really pleased with how this turned out, sounds proper throaty and mean as it should do! :).

Media is of initial version, final version in link is refined more and has a smoother top end transition.

Finally the repo has updated, good stuff!

Here is a preview of the upcoming "Alpina B6" inspired V8 race car monster sound, warning, quite intense!:

This is quite something else, it only revs to about 6400 and idles around 1000 but the sound you get across the rev range is fantastic! I'm trying to figure out how to add even more rolloff detail to the off throttle, to make the engine really sputter between shifts, rolloffs and really snort into action when you press the throttle. Already, I think this is one of my best sounds to date. There is a tremendous amount of complexity in this sound as you can probably tell in the midrange and hopefully with further tweaking I can really bring out it's full personality. However, I wanted to share it NOW HERE to give you all a taste of how it sounds and what to expect! Throaty, noisey, race car like V8 the Alpina inspired sound this engine is from really comes alive in game and when blasting throw the revs over the 6 gears it sounds so satisfying to hammer down the throttle.

Also, with these sounds, it is telling me more and more that having a higher number of sound samples really makes the blends sound virtually seamless and perfect. Ideally if i did 200rpm intervals it would take the sample count from 28 currently up to to 58 potentially which is incredibly time consuming, but hey who knows, may mean better and better results. I think 40 is probably the best compromise in the future so we shall see :)

    Thanks as always :).

I'm announcing now I'd like some help with some vehicles. The transit is coming along eventually, however, I'd like to acquire some Diesel samples of vehicles people own in real life, Diesel cars, trucks or even larger vehicles!

I've got some more Bus samples coming up soon but they are requiring quite a bit of work currently with naming and RPM values however as you've already seen I got one working and sounding pretty good so, more to go and tweak :).

New update is out weeeee! Plus we get an official bus added now, hooray! What excellent timing that was with the next mod being a diesel bus mod...lol.

Plus oof...new interior sounds, new future FMOD support, FMOD studio engine mod support improved too plus new variable engine settings for RPMs and all sorts such as ECUs and complex configs, nice.

This should mean in the future configurable sounds via in-game config files, such as on the fly switching of volumes, rpm bands, power bands, sound types and all sorts which is superb.

The Diesel Bus sound mod I made is already up and running with the new bus so this is going to be fun! Good stuff, so many nice new additions here :D.

    EDIT

Can anyone with any of my mods installed test whether or not they sound quieter now in game after the 0.12 update as opposed to before hand? It appears for me at least, overall volume of my sounds has gone down a little, almost like the game is applying a filter internally to lower the volume a little. Strangely again for me it appears sometimes offload samples are slightly louder and onload samples are slightly quieter lol, very odd.

Please to test my mods and report back with recent update and let me know if they now all sound a bit quieter exterior and interior wise.

Just a small update for you guys.

I apologise for those that downloaded the 2.5L hopper sound as it's terrible and broken and has now been removed for reworking in the future. I didn't realise at the time how many errors poor quality blends it had in it!

Upcoming, in better news, is a sound mod for the Wentward Bus :). There is two I've made, one much more complex than the other so it may get scrapped, but one is nearly good to go so will be released soon :).

If anyone has a bus though, let me know haha as I'd like your sounds!

    More to come.

A small sample of a Volvo Diesel F12 truck sound for the Bus. Probably doesn't really fit to the Bus overall and is more suited to the truck but, when experimenting with only 6 sound files, I feel like this sound came out pretty well considering :):

I do have things like retarder sound and transmission whines that I can add to the other bus sounds to make them sound even more authentic when slowing down, at least, up until we get proper retarder controls/sounds to use.

I'll release one version today which is complete and then tweak it to see if if the whines and groans sounds fit well enough into it :).

It's been uploaded today :D so hopefully it'll be live soon. If you want it right now, here's the mega link which I'll update the first post with for everyone before the live version :).

Wentward Bus I6 Diesel mod uploaded, waiting to go live on repo.

Upcoming sounds are some classic V8s, some modern V10s and still waiting on getting proper transit diesel sounds from somewhere so, hopefully that won't be too long to go. Speaking of I updated the Van mod with a new idle and new mid RPM sample so again, that should be live on repo soon :).

Someone say "V8 sound mod for the Vendetta!"? Well, I did, so here we go :D:

I've spent AGES converting this today and it's still not done ;). Featuring a top end of about 7200rpm and high idle of around 950, this classic racing V8 sound fits the vendetta superbly. I do have another V8 sample that is a bit more "dated" so to speak that may fit this car, but for now, I wanted to create a performance big block V8 engine for this car to really give it some beans. Final engine details are not done, expect it to have more power than this and if possible, a "Muffled" exhaust and "Street" version of this sound too with a lower redline, quieter exhaust and more of potterer but with still plenty of kick. I am hoping in the future Beam.NG allows the use of valve exhaust system as that would allow me to make a dedicated variable exhaust sound system for every car as an upgrade.

For now, i've had to shove the Exhaust sample into the offload sample and just roughly processed it for now, it still needs work on the samples volumes, remove some of the peaky bits, add less bass in areas and more bass in others then finally to consider removing the mid range "whisp" of the engine, unless people like it? It's the natural sound of the intake so It gives it a bit of personality.

As soon as we can configure backfires with our own sounds, expect this engine to pop and bang like a right monster :D.

    I found the sample limit...damn!

Managed to acquire a 67 era Camaro sound sample which fits a much more rustic feel, however, combining the exhaust channel with the on channel and the off channel just blows it out in game, it can't handle the complexity.

It's weird because it's not a volume thing, I think has something to do with the amount of layers on the samples.

I'm going to try and just have the "off" sample as normal, but put the "on" sample as the exhaust sample, possibly, or vice versa we'll see but i feel the complexity of the sample is going to be an issue. WIll post update once I have some success...if any.

Even though I don't understand what you're saying, it's cool that you put so much time & effort into these sounds :D You could really be an engine sound developer for this game :p

Basically there are too many layers of sound samples (sound clips on top of one another) for fmod to handle, so it blows the sound out like a song that got bass boosted too much.

That's the issue then, thanks I figured as much :).

I'll have to experiment with removing a bit of detail so it matches the other sound samples which won't lose too much of the quality at all, but it may be a "preference" job as to which sounds better. Stay tuned :).

@Sithhy™ lol thanks :D. I really really want people to submit there own vehicles engines too as that would create a really wide dynamic of choice.

I'll upload on first page of thread soon :). Yeah I wish it was quicker to upload them, they need to hire more people for testing.

I'd apply myself but I have no time for that heh.

Just a quick notice to people in here, please get on the repo and rate my mods :). Give feedback where you think it's needed and yeah just let me know how it's all going.

I have a few more releases coming up such as the classic V8, a few more I4s and a couple of V6s, a V10 or two and some V12s then I'll probably take a break until more functionality can be added in the fmod engine. Heck...it would be EPIC if the game could support Granular Synthesis for engine sounds as that would speed up mod making 10 fold. It would mean spending 15 minutes with a vehicle rather than an hour or two, it would meaning more people can sound mod and best of all it would mean YT vids or otherwise could be used for engine samples at really high quality.

Going to put that in the suggestions thread as it would be superb to have another method of engine sounds mods to put in the game.

Unity already supports it and FMOD has a AudioWorks plugin for engine granular synthesis sounds so, who knows what we could produce in the future :).

Time for another sound preview :). This time, a N/A MX-5 I4 engine currently being used on the rather light and slidey Skoda lol:

I think this sound has come out REALLY well with very little editing :). It possible needs more exhaust resonance on throttle and a little smoother volume curve between on/off throttle (as in, more pronounced and louder when you stamp on the throttle) but for the most post this is ready to go. I suppose I may just upload this sound as a resource for people to stick on any car they want, but i may well just chosoe the skoda or the very old version of a MX-5 released for BeamNG a while ago however not sure if that's a knock off or badly outdated.
