Are you going to do a leaf spring suspension, like a real XJ?

@atomspeed123 I assume you're gonna use the hopper engines for this, but If you want I can make you fuel injected and performance modified versions, as well as some diesels. Or i could make the engines it really had, assuming I can find decent dyno charts for them.

Yes, but only on the rear, as they were only leaf-sprung on the rears. The front was a 'Quadra-Link' shock and separate spring unit with a bunch of swaybars and links.
    @Capkirk
I was planning on sticking with the Hopper's 4.0 and 2.5, giving them a little more power to match the Cherokee's specs, as after 1991 the 4.0 was upped to 190hp and 225lb/ft of torque, with the Hopper's equivalent only having 164hp and 215lb/ft. I wanted these power and torque figures to be widespread over all model years to begin with, as I don't want too many configs right off the bat.
I had an interesting idea of creating the LR2-2.8-ish V6 (which was awful) offered from '84-'87 and replaced by the 4.0. What I could do is carburate the Pessima's 2.7 V6 and make it available as RWD and 4WD.
The 2.1 Renault Dourvin J8S Turbo Diesel was another one on my list, as was the VM Motori 2.5 Turbo Diesel, both of which would be using the same 2.5 inline-4 mesh from the Hopper to make it less time consuming to make.

If you would like to make these engines for me to use, I would be very thankful as I'm not that great at engine scripts (I have messsed with them in the past without much success).
For a very long time, I've been using automobile-catalog for many of the specifications for many different vehicles (as I've modded other games in the past) and it's quite a nice reference. It can tell you how much power/torque the engine is making at what RPM, as well as the torque and power curve. Just be warned that it isn't too friendly with ad-blockers :p
The 4.0 was always fuel injected, and I wouldn't mind if the 2.5 petrol you made was too. Of course, all the diesels were injected. The only one you would have to convert from injection to carb is the 2.7 Pessima V6, but I can handle the models for all these engines, don't worry.
I've heard that the 4.0 engines can make good power when supercharged/turbocharged!

Some floorpan progress has been made, and so the engine bay isn't far off. After the engine bay is complete, I can begin JBeaming it up and fitting the suspension (a lot of which is borrowed and adapted from the H-Series and Hopper) in order to make it drivable.
My plan after that is to model the rest of the exterior panels, and work my way onto the inside, where at that point it will be ready for beta release.
The roof has been removed so that you can see the floor a bit better:

I guess you will be working on the rear of the model soon? Because so far it's a flat spot :p
Also, you got a bit "crooked" vertice right above the rear door pillar

    1) Here's a picture of the floorpan top-down, cut out of the car (funnily enough in the same colour as mine :p). As you can see, past the bend upwards, it's pretty damn flat until the end ;) (apart from the strengthening dents, but I'll do a little trick that the devs themselves do, which is texture that in with AO)
I am focusing on the middle/front at the moment as it's a bit more complicated over there.

    2) Yeah, I've just noticed that, thanks for pointing it out :D

I looked into it and to my surprise, the Euro version actually has some pretty major sheet metal revisions as opposed to its earlier and even same-year USDM counterpart. The back hatch, tail lamps, and bumpers are completely 'foreign' to me. When I get a chance I'll get some pictures of the major differences and interior bits for mapping/reference. I'm also surprised that your version was offered with a diesel, the gas 4.0 has proven to be basically indestructible here in the states, Chrysler kept using it until 2006 because it was so tough!

Yeah, ours is pretty different! The 2.5 diesel is actually Italian, and the 2.5 gasoline four-cylinders are quite rare. The 4.0 Cherokees are probably about as commmon as the diesels here, but almost all of the XJs in the UK are now sadly made of rust, with many off the road. Mine, mentioned in my sig, is an example.
Keep in mind that the initial version of the Blackfoot will be a US-spec left-hand-drive model, although I may make metric gauges and right-hand-drive versions in future.

Edit - Also keep in mind that I can't model off basically anything on my interior, since it's a 97-01 and the current Blackfoot is an 84-96 model. Google is handy though :p

Here's a mock-up of the rear end, just to picture the fitment, with one of the wheels it'll be available with. And a little sneak-peek of the floorpan and bulkhead.

The engine bay is basically complete. The front of it is the next stage, where all the mounts for the fascia and radiator are.
    The engine fits quite nicely.

You should add some more polies to the body soon... The quality difference is a bit steep :p

There isn't that much of a difference, and many of the extra polygons you see are there because of triangulation on the Hopper's side (which is only done when models are finished). This was never meant to be a precise and incredibly-detailed model in the first place, just one that's basically functional. Smooth shading also makes a massive difference in some places of the Hopper, but since the Blackfoot has so many sharp lines it simply doesn't work.

The Hopper's front suspension has been adapted to fit the car. The setup is near identical; it only loses one suspension arm from the axle itself - which shouldn't matter a great deal.

Well, there really isn't much to be done on the parts sharing front since it's so similar to the Hopper.
I'm not terrible with modelling either, with a few years' experience (but I am far from fantastic! :p)

Will this be on the hopper frame or the roamer (or maybe a frame option for the hopper) that way mods like bumpers and suspension will work with this mod?
