So, a while back I had some Ethernet port issues, specifically with the driver. 2015 Dell Latitude E5440 14" Intel I3 4030U @1.90 Ghz dual core 4th gen Intel Integrated Graphics 4400 1Gb 12 Gb ddr3 1600mhz RAM 1Tb Seagate Fircuda SSHD Windows 10 Pro (used to have Windows 8 pro) It's only 2 years old (almost 3 at the time of writing this) It was refurbished and we got it when it was only a few months old. I call this thing a lemon. The drivers for my Ethernet port have been defective since we got this pc. I have cleared drivers and installed the latest ones automatically from Microsoft and Dell. I have done everything I can think of. But it still frequently crashes due to a "driver power state failure" . I guess if I had known this was going to happen, I would have asked for a new and possibly better laptop for my b-day this month... Right now I can't use this thing without being frustrated. It apparently uninstalled BeamNG along with a ton of other stuff. I had some stock vehicles not working, and my pc crashes fixed it for me apparently. So what do I do? I don't know. So if you have any suggestions, let me know.
Sounds like an OS issue to me... Is the Windows 10 installation fresh or did you do an upgrade install over 8? If it is an upgrade install, you should back up anything important, then use the Reset PC function to reinstall Windows 10. A fresh install will often solve a lot of problems caused by upgrade installs.
I already tried this a while back. You think I should try this again? I got this pc originally with Windows 8 and I upgraded to Windows 10 home and then I apparently got another free upgrade to Windows 10 pro.

If you could get me a copy of a Windows minidump DMP file, I'd be willing to analyze it to find the error. For information on minidumps: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/5560-configure-windows-10-create-minidump-bsod.html This would allow tracking down the exact driver causing the issue.

Okay. I am on Linux and found the Windows .dmp file. I actually found three. Two of them are on the 12th of April and the third is on the 15th. It looks like there's a problem with a PCI driver, which is a system file. Try opening a command prompt as admin and running "sfc /scannow". Then wait for it to finish.
That may very well have fixed it. If not you might have to repeat the process in safe mode, and failing that reinstall Windows 10.
12GB RAM? Dang, if the RAM Cards are still good (which most likely they are) save them for a future PC, 12GB DDR3 Is still worth a lot of money. (even though there Laptop ram cards, desktop ram is worth a bit more)
I just booted into Windows and it seems to be running much better. Thank you for your help and I greatly appreciate it! (Hopefully, it will save me $700 this year.) --- Post updated --- My RAM cards have plenty of life left in them. I originally had 4Gb and that...you can't even imagine how slow Beamng was... Then I recently got a good deal on Amazon for a $50 some dollar 1x8 Gb stick of RAM! Btw, this is just before the Ram and GPU prices flew. And if I wanted to cannibalize my pc for the RAM and SSHD I could get a Ram adapter. And I could save a lot of space with a 2.5-inch SSHD anyways. Now that this thing is working again (hopefully, just give me 48 hours) I won't need to buy a new laptop this summer! --- Post updated --- It didn't work... Still crashing.
Resetting it now...The scan made my pc faster but it didn't fix all the files. So I am stuck doing a "keep your files but everything else goes" type of reset. This is last reset I am doing on this machine period. Woohoo.
I once had really odd issues with Windows 10, and those issues went away when I did that kind of reset. I hope it goes well. Microsoft software has always had its weird quirks. I would inquire about support for your chipset but that should not be an issue because I have a Surface Pro 3 with a 4th-gen Core i7 U series running Windows 10 and it never had issues like this. Both are the same architecture CPUs so the chipsets are presumably very similar as well. My desktop is also a 4th-gen Core i7, but its a 4790k on the Z97 chipset which is quite different from the U series.
I reset my machine and it's running better (for now) but it's really slow. I am starting to wonder if I should backup my hard drive and wipe it and start over... I hope not.
Well, even after a reset, it still won't give, so I switched to a "New" laptop that was sitting around. It is pretty quick for a 8 year old pc. Honestly, it's quicker than my Latitude. Beamng works slightly better on this machine so that's a +1. Hopefully I can manage to save up for a new pc soon. Thanks for the help. It is appreciated!
