Ehhh...the Pigeon isn't the worst thing imaginable, IMO. Soon(TM)(R)(C) Well, that's great to know that I'm getting some fans for this story. Interesting that you should make that comparison. I never intended on that teaser being Dark Knight-esque, I just wanted something that looked cool. (Also, the Pigeon might be a bit of a psycho. Most likely not, but it could be a stalker.)
I feel like I should point out exactly why I chose the Philippines as the location of JRI. I needed to locate JRI in a country which... *Is close to Japan *Has a lot of islands in it (or even is made up of several islands) *Was controlled by Spain, the US, and Japan (as indicated by the Japanese pillboxes, US airfield, and Spanish fort) *Is located around the equator (therefore increasing the chances of being tropical) *Uses metric and a non-English native language Therefore, the Philippines was my best option because it fit all of these requirements. Also, the reason why I picked the Pigeon was because it... *Is very easy to run at 20+ FPS on my craptop *Is very basic, cheap, and underpowered (but incredibly strong) *Has the option for a non-factory engine swap - one of two vehicles in BeamNG.drive that give that option *Has a low center of gravity and a mid-engine drivetrain layout *Has only three wheels (the only vehicle to have such a wheel layout) *Is RHD-only (the only other vehicle to have such a layout is the Miramar) *Is the smallest vehicle to have a diesel engine
The Pigeon can handle, alright; I've taken this turn at over 70 kilometers per hour in the Pigeon, and it'll stick more than you'd think it would. Even this corner is achievable at over 60 kilometers per hour. And this corner? Quite possibly one of the toughest turns in BeamNG.drive? I can make the Pigeon go around it even after I enter the turn at 60 kilometers per hour. Admittedly, it is incredibly difficult to pull that off, but it can be done even with a keyboard. (At best, I can exit the corner at 45 kilometers per hour, which isn't much less than what I can do with a car like the Miramar Street Tuned or the Moonhawk Special.) Also, the Pigeon is an excellent rally vehicle because of its low weight, small size, and torquey diesel engine, which means that it's perfect for JRI's countless mountain trails.
Me fully knowing what kilometers are, I am pleased to say, going through the corner at 30 mph is a norm for most cars, any faster and it's toast...
Yeah, the Pigeon doesn't handle much worse than a normal car around JRI if you drive it with a bit of restraint. Also, the Pigeon is the only vehicle that can be equipped with stabilizers and comes with a little yellow label - things which could be useful for this story. (Admittedly, the main character will not have stabilizers at any point in any story.)
I thought that it'd be fitting to have the most distinguished car of the story have its own name. After all, Percy will be one of the characters from Selva Rocosa who continues on to other stories, so I thought that I might as well give him a name to distinguish him from any other Pigeon.
If this takes place in the phillipeans then why are the deafault license plates hawaiin? Why could'nt this take place in hawaii?
It is tiresome to read because you have too much attention to detail. For example, descriptions of every piece of plastic in the Pigeon's cab are not needed.
Would you rather him say 'it was a sea foam pigeon, it went zoom zoom and did the course fast. 'Challenge Cesar on the hill' sad dad. The pigeon was fast'
This absolutely made my day. 10/10, well done. Please do this for every single chapter, and if you want to include poorly-drawn Paint images with your child-book summaries, that'd be the icing on the cake.
