As the title says, I'm looking for an engine for the D-Series that gets good gas mileage (Mod or official, doesn't matter). Any suggestions?

There’s on that has a 4 cylinder, but you have to work it pretty hard so the mileage isn’t great.

That's what i mean, my config is a bit heavyso this engine is too weak. I think that a 6 cylinder diesel could do great but all that I found have bad mileage (17-19 while cruising).
Just me being board, I want to have a capable default vehicle that can go a lot further than others (think of a post apocalyptic-ish car)

Yeah, the main issue that your going to end up running into with fuel milage isn't really anything to do with the engine or the weight (I mean, yes, the engine matters... you'll see what I am getting at here in a minute), but its more about the aerodynamics of the vehicle in this case. The thing is like a barn door plowing through the air... there is no cutting or smooth flow lines happening. If you can figure out how to improve the aerodynamics... you will improve your fuel mileage massively.

I'm just used to higher numbers I guess... Look at the new Ford Power Stroke, albeit a bit newer but gets 30+ mpgs. That is the direction I'm aiming :p

Yeah, and like the ram, it’s got active grill shutters and an active air dam to be as aerodynamic as possible, also, the D has an inverted grill which is awful for trying to be efficent

I see your point now, so I guess I got a pretty good result. Thanks for helping :D

Right there is your reason... its a diesel. Diesel engines and gas engines are massively different. (ok, they aren't that different, but different enough) Diesel fuel has much more energy in it than gasoline plus diesel engine run with much higher compression ratios and no throttle bodies... that has the side effect of making them much more efficient. for instance, my uncles 98 F-350 dually extended cab (a monsterious machine) still gets 24mpg... which isn't half bad.

That's what I'm saying. I can barely pass 19 mpg in a small D-15 4WD... So I'm basically asking for more efficient (mostly diesel) engines.

Got you... I'm not looking for black smoke but more for better mpg... The engine I mentioned before is part from CJD Special Tunes mod btw

I'm a bit busy with school and finals, so an engine in BeamNG is the last thing I have to do :p
