I think its just budget saving in populated and built-up areas. In rural regions you tend to see signs made with an actual pole, in towns and cities you get the posts made from U channels because buildings shelter the sign from prevailing winds that can knock the sign down. There's little need to up the cost of putting down billions of signs by making them stronger than they have to be. I don't know, I don't live in the USA but its a guess. I collect decommissioned, scrapped or generally thrown away road signs for my garage wall because fuck wallpaper. I'm having 'wallmetal'. I just notice that most of the signs I receive that have been up in cities tend to come with some of the U channel still on there, and if they've come from the country they usually ship with the mounts still attached for putting them on something round.

To be honest, I don't know a lot about the U channel because they don't use it here in Cairns (yes I'm an Australian) but the full pole signs still seem to get knocked over and bent.

I'm in the U.S and basically all of the signs are those U pole things. I have seen signs that have been run over, and they stay where they are, they kinda just fall down if you hit them at a low speed. That guy in the hummer hit them at a higher speed than most signs are hit at, because you're usually trying to stop if you hit a sign. I guess that's why they broke and flew around. I'm in the suburban area, but there are rural areas very close, and i think they use the U pole, too. I'm not sure, though.

Obviously it would be illegal, its destruction of government property.

    - On another note, I wonder how many scratches he / she had after doing that.

Turning a delivery truck into a banana by jumping it. What other game lets you do that with realistic physics? Oh that's right. None.

This thing is even more amazing in motion, watching the cargo box flex and wiggle as the frame twists and the whole structure yields to various forces.

The cargo box is still an early work in progress. I haven't added textures or lights yet but those are coming soon :)
