We saw the badge, it is not. It's from a company called "AB", which shares VW's trait of fitting a 2-letter acronym into a shape.
Plus, there is no proof that it would be French AT ALL, as most 40s-60s French cars looked like this: Another thing is that we have no idea if it has a successor brand either, but it's more likely not to be the older Charmand or Civetta.
right because some of us can't use high graphics remember so you should maybe make normal graphics higher quality. P.S. I run on high this is for others and my Mac
French cars had extremely varying designs in that period of time. Don't reduce a entire countries worth of car culture in 2 decades to a single design pls.
Much like many others. MG (whose logo incidentally looks much closer to the "AB" one than VW's), Bugatti, AMC... Lotus has initials of the founders in a graphic composition, Alpine has an "A" in a circle which later became "AR" after the takeover by Renault. Autobianchi for that matter shares both that trait AND the two letters in the acronym...
And nothing else. And you get what could possibly be a car that has nothing to do with VW other than the engine, which seems to be their way of doing things lately.
Source? Hopper - looks like a Wrangler, mecanicals of a Wrangler, non-US badge. LeGran - A-body looks, A-body drivetrain, US badge. K-Series - Looks like a Z4+SLK, drivetrain like a Z4+SLK, German. I-Series - Looks like an 80s German sedan, drivetrqin like one, German. Miramar - Generic 60s looks, Bluebird-style mechanicals, Japanese brqnd. 800-Series - Looks like a 3-Series, mechanicals like one, German.
SBR4- looks like something german/italian (panamera, gtc4lusso), porsche like mechanicals with a subaru EJ/FB engine clone, japanese brand. your point?
Ok. So, since it's so obvious, what's the point in showcasing a detail like the engine - which everyone and his dog recognized as a VW flat four - when it supposedly would give away so much? Why the mistery? They could as well show more, since it's certainly a VW clone...
Perhaps this is because they can have a bit of fun watching the update speculation thread until they reveal more. Jokes aside, maybe there are parts of the car that aren't finished yet, and they would rather wait until near completion before showing anything else.
Two actually. The Hopper looks nothing like a Land Cruiser, no matter how many times this postumous inspiration is brought up. Early pics showed it with Wrangler-style rims, no less.
