I tried to make sense of the BeamNG universe, and had a few thoughts: Japan's economy and position in the car world was better than in real life in the 90s - Japanese makers were able to make a somewhat more daring attack, as exemplified by the fact that the Pessima, a midrange maker's mundane sedan, has some fancy versions. Japanese cars are seen as more upmarket in Europe, or just don't get large enough sales to warrsnt cheaper Euro variants with smaller or diesel motors - the Pessima and Sunburst don't have such. The 90s and on US market could not be as big as the real one - sales seem to be not plentiful enough for makers to build a Beamverse Caprice/Crown Vic, Roadmaster/Grand Marquis and T-Bird, but just a Grand Marshal, Grand Marshal Luxe and Grand Marshal Coupe. If Gavril, Soliad, Bruckell and Burnside are one company (which would make sense, fitting the similiar real-life GM's Chevrolet-Pontiac-Oldsmobile-Buick structure), they may be the only one, suggesting that the market is not big enough (bad economy? weaker antitrust? heavier import competition?) for more. Heck, even Burnside and Bruckell may be gone, as the GM Luxe seems more suited for them. The 2000s may have seen the imports take a bigger chunk of the US mass-market, with Gavril moving upmarket as an attempt at a saving throw. The Beamverse equivalent of Ferdinand Porsche might not have started his own company, maybe staying in AB. Instead, Hirochi started making lower-level counterparts of our universe's Porsches. After WWII, the original maker simply sold the OG Hopper predecessor (maybe called something like "HP", which turned into "Hopper" the way "GP" became "Jeep", "HMMMV" became "Hummer" or "GMC" was "Jimmy") to Ibishu, which saw civilian market potential for that thing, and likely branched into other segments Jeep (which probably has no Beam equivalent) was in in our timeline. What do you think?
Bruckell, Soliad and Gavril were never confirmed to be one company. They certainly aren't one. You could say it is possible, but then it is possible for all brands to be one corporation. Look: Gavril and Civetta are one company like FCA (CG Motors) Soliad, Bruckell and Burnside are Gavril's subsidiaries Wentward is CG Motors' in-house coachbuilder Ibishu and Hirochi are owned by CG Motors like Mazda was owned by Ford ETK is owned by CG Motors like certain European companies (Simca, Saab) were owned by US companies
I think Gabe picked fictional car-sounding names at random that vaguely fit the real life vehicles they were based off of.
That's a cool theory, although there'd be more similarities between these cars if it was true. In case of the four I mentioned, there aren't such points of interchange (Bruckell can have its own V8 and be in the same company as Gavril, as back then, each GM brand had own V8s).
Some issues with this... GM Coupe is a mod. It appears that Gavril and Burnside are one company (Mentioned by Gabester at some point) and Solaid and Bruckell are another (Gabester said that the Wendover would use LeGran engines). Gavril has some relationship with Wentward as they sell engines to said company. But on the Universe front, as of now it seems that the US kept the Phillippines as a colony (JRI) and added at as part of the State of Hawaii. Also, likely Belasco is a very poor city, seeing as they use patrol cars from the 90's in 2018. Gavril likely still makes cars to this day, evidenced by the Gavril dealership in Presidio, Belasco.
Have you ever realized that all of this speculation is stupid? This is a car game, with fictional brands that were made up. There doesn't have to be a "universe", if you care that much about this go to the roleplay groups where this belongs
The same engines that in case of Wendover and LeGran's RL counterparts were also used in Chevies and Buicks. Not necessarily, it could be just a small island on the far end of Hawaii, or mybe the overseas territories became a part of that state. It can be a retired museum example or replica, like the Burnside cop car.
Dude, have you realized that all this speculation is unnecessary? This is just a vehicle simulation game, it doesn't need to have a "universe."
Agree with you. I think that real world and Beam world are the same thing, only with different companies, etc.
It is unnecessary to speculate on, but is it any less on topic for General Discussion than the 3+ threads trying to squeeze more discussion out of the (admittedly exciting) Automation exporter? Besides, this simulation with fictional car brands will eventually have a story, and unless it all revolves around remote backroad antics, there will probably be some semblance of a universe. I wouldn't take omissions as evidence. There are gaps in BeamNG's vehicle list that may or may not eventually get filled with new vehicles, or be left blank for one reason or another. Otherwise one could argue that the pickup truck wasn't invented until the 80's
What about the real Guam's area? It's not an omission, it's the opposite - the real-life Crown Vic and Caprice did not habe such luxurious versions or a coupe, and the coupe looks quite a bit like an 89-97 Thunderbird. They could be filling gaps filled in real life by other cars.
I usually agree with you, but here I have to disagree. I can't see any problems with creative thinking. If it wasn't for creativity then the game would't exist in the first place.
Also, the Moonhawk makes a bit more power than the actual Malaise midsizers, so maybe the Malaise Era wasn't as bad on performance as in real life in the Gabeverse.
