you can not change the keyboard control

    Elaborate please. The game gives you the ability to remap every one of the controls.

    I know everything can be set but the problem is that it is not possible to remove the basic keyboard control.

    I want to use the WASD buttons and the ones I use but only the arrow keys

    Can you still give more details?
    The game allows you to remove any default binding, and customize them however you want.

    Describe step by step what you are doing, so we can understand what is not working for you / you are having trouble with.

    EDIT
    And make sure nothing on your side (antivirus and etc) is blocking the game in any way.

    I've been playing the game for a long time (my favorite), I've just deleted all the mods because was over 40 and I felt that the game was lagging. I was completely reinstalled and when I entered the settings, I could not overwrite the default settings.

    This is very likely what's happening.
    When something is blocking the game from accessing its userfolder (Documents/BeamNG.drive), the game won't be able to write the new controls settings you are creating.

    Please triple check all your external programs, one of them must be messing with the game.
