I was gone for one week without internet and figure I would miss an announcement like this XD Well this is an awesome step for beamng! I totally gonna be getting automation! Glad to see this game making major steps!
I have a question. Would a large SUV deform the same as a small hatch? Or would the SUV be stronger than the hatch? (Like how the Roamer is stronger than the Covet)
I assume it would take into account the materials and the chassis used in the construction. (e.g a steel 50s sedan being touqher then a aluminum hatchback.)
Weight most likely is correct, so node weights are adjusted, which of course has some effect to structure.
Yeah, and there is all kinds of crazy math required to even make different size and weight of cars hold together correctly
That complexity of getting all those calculations done automatically is something I have been thinking here. I'm quite surprised of it being possible to calculate in a first place. Also that leads to thinking, if it is possible to calculate such things, maybe some day in a future it is possible to create algorithms that can make beam structure from almost any mesh, which might be quite interesting path for BeamNG's research project. Anyway it might not be realistically feasible development, but to think such being possible even in theory is quite exciting. These pioneering projects are creating interesting future, new ways that bring greater possibilities to software developing. I'm also looking forward of what media will publish when updates go live, as as far as I know, this kind of collaboration is creating history in game development.
Well, most of my cars would be made out of carbon fiber which is the strongest and lightest material in that game. I would make the full size SUV with twin turbocharged V12 that produce up to 1200bhp and approximately 1900bhp. I guess my idea when comes to performance vehicle is way too much but that's mine.
Now we won't have little twelve year olds coming on asking for cars. They can make it themselves.........finally. This is gonna be big for BeamNG and Automation. I was having a play around on it yesterday and tried to make a 351 Cleveland. Couldn't get it right though
You can make it by yourself if you have the modelling skill by using Blender app. Even I can't create an interior for my future car model.
1. will the customization menu work? (and how, can we remove parts such as doors and transmission, can we add turbos and race suspension, ect.) 2. will skins work? (automated UV map generator) 3. how will this work in the vehicle menu? maybe it can be a vehicle with an automation logo that will work as a 'folder' in the vehicle menu labeled "automation vehicles", with the cars in place of the configs? 4. can we get glass instead of the weird matte stuff it has now, even if there are no interiors? 5. universal wheel hubs? 6. do the lights work? (especially glow maps) 7. does the exhaust work?
Sorry to bump, and I don't know if this question has already been asked before, but will Automation be cheaper with the BeamNG sale, or is it cheaper to buy it with the Steam Summer sale?
