Yeah, I'm probably going to completely overhaul the mirrors. The way modeled them consumed a lot of resources and left the area rough. With the molding strip I used a lot of vertices to maintain the curve, but now that I think about it, it could use a little optimizing being that it's such a small area. :)

I'll also keep in mind the strip being detachable from the car when I get to the jbeam work. :)

Thank you. :) I'll keep trying to maintain a steady flow of progress; and thank you for the complement I really appreciate it. :)

Thank you for this. :D I did that part of the car a long time ago, ( wow, already I'm already more than a month into this project :) ) back then I must not have given thought into cleaning up that part of the car, I may have even overlooked this in the future. :p

Well, first post here! As soon as I saw this thread, I knew I wanted to see this in that gorgeous NFS livery. I love it so much!

So, with the author's permission, I'd love to give that skin a shot when he releases! The car is looking spectacular so far, by the way. Keep up the excellent work :)

    or else.

Thank you. :) At the moment, I don't see a problem with other people making skins for the car as long as it follows the forum rules.

    *UPDATE* (2/24/14)

    Hello again everyone. :)

Here is the new progress from last week:

    (Verts: 7544; Faces: 4252; Tris: 8764)

    And here is the wire-frame:

I finally remodeled the side mirror of the car and added the connecting bar (I still need to touch-up an area on the bar where it connects to the mirror) . This is another smaller update on the progress of the car. I didn't have much time last week to work on the car, but I expect to have more time this week. :)

Did you need to quote it? No. Its possible to reply to thread without it, you weren't replying to the quoted text and it needlessly clutters the thread.

Sorry if it comes off as me having a go at you, I normally ignore quotes of the OP, but you did ask why you shouldn't do it.

    *UPDATE* (3/3/14)

It's that time of the week again. :)

For this update, I modeled the side exhaust vents on the fender, if that is what they are, and I adjusted the wheel tubs (I apologize of this is the wrong name but I don't know what else to call them :p) to be more accurate with the real car. Sadly, I didn't have much time again last week, so that is all that I was able to do. I apologize for such a slow down in progress. I'll keep trying to get more progress, but time seems like it has been wearing thin lately. Aside from that, I will start modeling the wheels and chassis of the car soon :). I believe I've spoken long enough, so here's want you came here to see... PROGRESS IMAGES! :D

    *UPDATE* (3/10/14)

Hello everyone. Ready for another update? Well if you are you came just to the right place. :)

I put in more work and time into the model last week than the previous two weeks, and I feel confident now in saying that half or more of the model is complete at this point :). I have now completed the wheels and the work on the chassis has now begun. The wheels are a little heavy on resources but It was the best that I could do for now while keeping a decent amount of polys and an good poly flow. Though the wheels consumed more resources than the entire exterior of the car... I feel like I still have a nice amount of room to work with for the rest of the car; my goal is to achieve lower than or close to the amount of resources that the Civetta Bolide has (my main focus is the amount of tris, around 45,000). As for the chassis, it's still very much in its early stages, but I should finish it fairly quickly being that I don't have to worry about many of the details. Also, I have separated all of the body panels into independent objects. Finally, here are some images to show you how it looks. :D

    BMW E46 M3 GTR Progress 76 (Front Wheel).png BMW E46 M3 GTR Progress 76 (Rear Wheel).png BMW E46 M3 GTR Progress 76 (Chassis).png
(Verts: 14,526; Faces: 10,540; Tris: 21,328)______________ Just for you to know: Single Wheel, Front- (Verts: 1602; Faces: 1509; Tris: 3019)

    Here is the wire-frame :):

Here is a closer look at the wheel and the BMW Badge:

    BMW E46 M3 GTR Progress 76 Wireframe (Front Wheel).png BMW E46 M3 GTR Progress 76 Wireframe (BMW Insignia).png
(The BMW Badge has so many polys because it wasn't round enough without them. I won't do this with many small parts of the car, if I repeat this at all.)

Thank you :). I'll keep trying to increase the amount of progress I complete so that I can work on getting the car in-game. I like a positive push, I just have to try to find the time to accommodate it. :)

    *UPDATE* (3/17/14)

Hello everyone, it's time for another update :D.

Last week I furthered and refined my work on the chassis of the car. I'm having some minor problem areas with how some to the pieces connect but other than that, it's coming along well. At this point in time I am nearly done with the chassis and I will begin work on the suspension of the car soon. Here are some pictures of my progress :):

    BMW E46 M3 GTR Progress 82 (Engine Bay).png BMW E46 M3 GTR Progress 82 (Chassis Interior).png BMW E46 M3 GTR Progress 82 (Under-body Transmission Bay).png
    (Verts: 15424; Faces: 11044; Tris: 22330)

Here are images of the chassis wire-frame:

Please tell me what you think of the details so far, and if it would be better to add more details to the chassis. How it's modeled right now (excluding where the different areas connected) is most likely how it will stay unless there are important details that I missed. Thank you :).

    Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 3/17/14)

Thank you, I put a lot of work into it :). You should be able to do just as well as I did, maybe even better you put for the effort ;). In order to do so you have to spend a lot of time with it and make sure that everything is the best that it can be. Taking the time out to learn different techniques and functions from other modelers can help as well. :)

Sorry that I removed this post a few days ago. I want to keep the weekly updates separated from every other post I make.

    *UPDATE* (3/24/14)

    Hello everyone, :)

Last week was another very slow one for progress. I'm still on the chassis; I've only modeled slightly more of it. :( I don't have much time today and very little of the car changed so I'm not posting wire-frame images this time. Here is an image of what I did:

    *UPDATE* (3/31/14)

    Hello everyone :),

It's Monday again and it's time for another update. This time I just want to announce that I'm going to change my frequency of updating. I will no longer update on Monday of every week; instead, I will post updates when I complete a significant section of the model. I'm doing this so I can post higher quality updates; more than just slow progress. When I make a post I want it to show a fair amount of progress that I've completed. If you want to keep up-to-date with what I've started and what I'm currently working on, you can use the to-do list on the original post as a reference. I will update the to-do list as soon as I complete a section of the car or when I begin working on another section of it.

I don't have much to show this time, but here is what I have done:

    Here is the Wire-frame:
