I don't get why you want so many people to build real-life replicas on Automation, when really, you can't even do that with many vehicles that are much outside the current body styles.

For instance, this started off as an attempt at a Yugo knockoff, but since I couldn't make anything remotely like a Yugo, I decided that I might as well make it more like the Covet (only a bit older). I really do like it, though; I think it looks great, and it's an excellent addition to my planned Aviator lineup.

I think it's better to make a car in the spirit/inspired by that RL vehicle, instead of attempting a replica of a RL vehicle.

Creating a new car is pretty impossible at the moment in Automation. There are replica bodyshapes, and the mesh modifier is too much limited to make something really new out of it. I wish we could. Noone is able to design a truck for example. Or remove the roof. Or making interior. Or just change the windows. Not possible.

That's sort of what I did with the Ronolit. It's somewhat inspired by/in the spirit of the Covet (same engine displacement and engine type, similar trims, similar size and weight, etc.), but the RXI produces 33 more horsepower than the Covet ZXi (annoyingly, though, thee RXI can only crack 113 miles per hour, while the Covet ZXi can top 128 miles per hour; the RXI also only gets 21 mpg compared to the 25-30 mpg of the ZXi) and it's a bit older (and styled way differently from the Covet). It's pretty much my re-interpretation of the Covet's elements, styled in a very generic (but somewhat cool) fashion.

I feel your pain (somewhat). I've been trying to build something like an Austin-Healey Sprite (not exact, of course) for a long, long while, and this is about as close as I can get. It's ugly and just plain terrible.

@iplaybeam I don't make a copy of a real car, where's the fun in that? The Corolla for example has the same sized engine, but that's where the similarities end engine-wise. It makes ~35 less horsepower, uses different cams, etc. Even the exterior is different, the 4Sprinter looks more like a land rover than a 4Runner, I just take names because that and front ends I'm horrible at designing. I use real cars to inspire my designs, not as blueprints.

Plus, you can't replicate vehicles older than 1945 because Automation doesn't have any body shapes older than 1945.

Both are products of the Falcon Motor Company; top being the Abyss, and the bottom being the BMC.

In my case, this exporter is very useful to build the base for a real car mod. So build the engine and such, and then replace the 3D model and fix Jbeam

I might start with a 90s Barstow as soon as I get the game, something like the Mustang around the mid to late 90s.

This is the best looking car I've made so far. It's kinda slidey when driving though I'm not sure why

My second last post, before I show pictures of my cars in BeamNG!
2015 Kumisa Lantic: Inspired by the Honda Civic

2018 Tochira SV-80: An SUV from Kumisa's sports car brand Tochira.

Tochira PT-60: A pickup truck from the Tochira brand.

1995 Kumisa LX-250: Inspired by the Nissan 240SX

1998 Silvan Decades: After decades of production, the Decades was the last car Silvan made before the company ended.

Tomorrow, I will take lots of screenshots and post them here. Then, no more cars. If you want to see more of my cars, head over here: https://steamcommunity.com/id/keaganbgames/screenshots/

tbh, replicas are more of a challenge than making your own car especially using vanilla.
