As the title says, an official snowy map would be AWESOME. I know the devs are incredibly busy with Italy (which, so far, looks amazing) but perhaps after that some sort of snowy map would be really fun. A place to slide around, offroad in the snow, and crash off of spectacular mountains. The snowy roads in the Automation Test Track are already a step forward.
To be honest, I'd like to see a snowy countryside or city map more than a snowy mountain. The latter has been overused in video games.
Those ideas are really nice. I was thinking along the lines of a small mountain pass with a small town and then some nice countryside.
Personally I would love to see a map based in the Rocky Mountains, with a mixture of snow and normal grass.
That's kinda how the automation test track map is as of now. Also, an Upstate New York map would need some deep snow. Having some unplowed roads might be interesting, as would be driving on slush.
You need to read this, especially Goosah answer if you want to create snow map, because I'm totally tired of seeing flat unrealistic snow (ok it is nice in small amounts, but when you could do real thing...) : https://www.beamng.com/threads/my-idea-of-more-realistic-snow-for-a-map.38731/
One thing I'd like to say. We have a desert map. We have a bunch of coastal maps We have a bunch of island maps But snow is only extremely thin in a tiny area of one map.
Maybe something like Nome, Alaska? That would be a interesting environment that strays away from the other official/modder-created USA maps, plus the snow.
If there's an upstate New York map, it should be named "New York " just to troll the players, resulting in a million threads about how inaccurate the new map is to the city...
The Alaska panhandle is the only part of Alaska considered to be part of Northwestern USA. Nome is way far away from that panhandle. (Though one of the campuses is called "Northwest Campus")
Just call it Nome, USA, or simply Alaska, USA. Small Island strayed away from the typical naming (because it was of course a island, not coastal mainland.) So did Utah, which was named after the state the map was mostly based off. EDIT: Hirochi Raceway is another one that took a different name from the other official USA maps (didn't even include USA in the name).
What about Industrial Site, Port, Jungle Rock Island , and Derby Arenas? All of those are set in the USA but don't have USA in the name.
Yeah, I forgot to mention those as well (especially JRI, as when you spawn, you have the Hawaii plate on your default.)
