My wheel spacers mod, "Spaced Out: Wheel Spacers" was recently re-enabled on the repo after a long hiatus. Currently I'm waiting on mods to restore the discussion thread if it still exists. In the meantime, here's a temporary discussion thread for bug reports, help, suggestions, etc.

    torsion submitted a new resource:

Spaced Out: Wheel Spacers - Universal wheel spacer system. Fix your stance.

Awesome! This was really fun to use, and it never really got the attention it deserved.
Does this still limit the game to spawning in only 2 vehicles?

Thanks opkraut! I really enjoyed the challenge of making this mod. I encourage anyone to look under the hood. The functionality presented to the user is quite simple, but the way that I did it is fairly convoluted. Some day I hope that BeamNG will have a new, better, wheel system that renders this mod useless.

It was a big disappointment when I found out that using my mod would cause the game to crash after spawning only a few vehicles. On top of that, just disabling or removing the mod didn't make the problem go away. The temporary parts would stay in place until the user manually deleted them or cleared their cache. The spawn limitation was not actually with the mod, rather it was with the game engine. As a workaround for another problem the devs had used a static memory allocation where a dynamic one should have been. This was a known issue for the devs - something that was already on their too-do list. Unfortunately the static memory allocation was enough for most purposes. This mod causes each vehicle to use significantly more memory than it normally would. That doesn't add up to a lot of RAM, but it did quickly eat up the static allocation. In any case, this is history: that memory allocation problem is now fixed.
    :)

As for the parts sticking around after removing the mod? The hooks provided by the game do not give me a good way to clear the temporary parts with guaranteed 100% reliability. With that said, my testing so far on this version shows 100% success on removing the parts when either disabling the mod or exiting the game.

I haven't tested vehicle counts extensively. Specifically, I did one test run with only the base game + the spacers mod. In that test I spawned 64 pickups successfully and then drove one around (very slowly). Having mods which add wheels, such as D-up, would increase the memory strain quite a bit. With that said I suspect that it would make no difference in the number of vehicles you could spawn without a crash.

@ToxicBane - It works just like IRL. You install the wheel spacer between the hub and the wheel. Doing this increases the track width of your vehicle. To do so in the game open the parts menu and drill down to the hub. Under the hub select a wheel spacer and then select a wheel.

    @Jeff.Hend20 - Let's take a look. Please attach your beamng.log to a reply.

I reinstalled this mod because the last version stopped working for me. When I went to go use the updated version, it still doesn't work. I tried clearing cache and reinstalling the mod. Wondering where I might be able to look to fix this. Thanks.

I've got the same issue as him, except the first time I forgot to install the mod in the first place. I realized that so I then DID install it and it doesn't show up. IDK where to find a beamng.log

FWIW the old version should actually work. For the reasons I mentioned above I do recommend that everyone switch to the current version. Please post your log which you can find at "Documents\BeamNG.drive\beamng.log"
It's inside your Documents\BeamNG.drive\ directory. Please reply with that file attached and we'll take a look.

Thanks for providing your log, it helped me notice a couple of things.
    :)
Your problem is caused by a poorly built mod. Someone has left out the "information" section of their jbeam. That's the part that includes the author, part name, and value:
    upload_2018-7-19_17-33-53.png

I was sloppy and did not do a check for that or some other basic requirements. I'll improve my mod to deal with this condition in the future. In the meantime, disabling your lowest quality mods should fix the issue. You can use the console output to narrow it down (~ on your keyboard, the tilde key):
    1. Disable all mods
    2. Enable Spaced Out.
    3. Restart the game.
    4. Check the console (~) for red text. Spaced Out should actually have printed a performance summary in the console if things went well.
    5. Enable a mod.
    6. Check the console for red text.
    7. Repeat.

It might be Megapack that adds the trailer hitch to that car. Thanks so much for looking at that for me.

The Sunburst was just an example! I don't actually know what car or mod the problem was related to. Spaced Out loads all relevant content into memory (official, mods, etc) and then processes it as one batch. Because of this I can't put my finger on which mod was the problem. I sent you a PM with a test I'd like you to do for me please.

I was able to find the mod and removed it. I am now able to use the spacers. Thank you so much for your help!

I'm glad you were able to get it working. Would you mind adjusting your review to reflect that? And what mod did you find out was the problem?

I'm gonna go through later and re-enable all the mods and figure it out, there are some that I had enabled that I still haven't re-enabled. I was just ready to get that mod working that I jumped right into game. I'll for sure update this post to let you know. And I will adjust my review on the actual mod. Thanks for all the help!

That's great. If you don't mind, please update your review to reflect that. :) To do that simply go back to reviews on the mod page and find your review. Then click upload_2018-7-21_10-1-19.png , then you can make a new review.

@Jeff.Hend20 - a new version of Spaced Out is now available on the repo. If you're subscribed you should update from v14 to v16 automatically. This version has been updated to tolerate bad mods which are missing the "information" block. It will post hints to the beamng.log (also viewable in your console '~') showing what parts have problems. That won't directly identify the mod, this isn't possible without taking a performance hit. The provided clues can be used with a tool like Agent Ransack to easily find the culprit though.

In order to write the current update I made a fake low quality mod so that I'd have something to crash v14 with and test the later versions. The bad part in that mod was named "torsion_BAD_tire_F_35_12_17_offroad", so once we learned that we'd search our mods folder for files containing that name. Agent Ransack or a similar tool can do that. Here is what the console output would look like in that case:

Haha, my mistake. That's a bit embarrassing for me: I confused you with ToxicBane. You could write a review if you wanted to but in any case I'm glad it's working for you. :)

It works just like IRL. You install the wheel spacer between the hub and the wheel. Doing this increases the track width of your vehicle. To do so in the game use Vehicle Customization and in the parts menu drill down to the hub. Under the hub select a wheel spacer and then select a wheel.
