I'm not sure about my polyflow, that form has bends to so many direction that kinda hard to see what direction edges will cause trouble. You won't believe how many hours and how many reworks that corner has seen already...
If you properly maintain your computer, the issues with day to day functionality differences are minimal. That means no automatic Windows 10 updates to change OS things and to change drivers, without my permission, interrupting my workflow, breaking things, and otherwise leaving me clueless other than the 'what did it do now?'. No, really, My computer is right where I left it, every time, with the same stuff. It doesn't update unless I tell it to, and I rarely ever update drivers unless there's a program not working right, or if they have somehow managed to eat themselves and crashed hard (very rare). My computer: No Windows 10, I paid for a Windows 7 Anytime Upgrade to Pro from Home just to avoid it. No updates, period. I don't care if it gets hacked; it's backed up WEEKLY or something reasonably close to that. I don't want or need the features of Windows 10 to leave me wonder 'what broke now' or 'we're sorry, but you can't use your computer because we've decided to update over your 256kbps download speed internet connection (k-byte, not k-bit). So yes, entirely. NONE of that. NONE of the programs will start having a fit aside of Maya, and I have the settings backed up for that, because it's 'the weakest link'. I can't afford to have downtime during the times I am actually physically able to sit at the computer. Was making a bridge, decided it would be an arch bridge this time. Please pardon the unfinished textures but the forum rules stipulate for some dumb reason that I must accompany my post with a picture. I will be making these so they can go on slopes, too. Doubtful I will make a slope-to-flat on-bridge transition piece though, as I don't see the need yet. If there's a specific not-too-overly-complicated type of bridge you'd like to see, please let me know, message me with a picture of it and it's name and I'll consider it. Got a house you'd like me to model into the map? Send a picture in of it via private message (more than one picture angle is best), and i'll see what I can do to put it in my map.
Working on my first map ever . Progress is going good, just finished the roads today. So far, it's great for drifting.
NomNomNomNom... Union Break!!! Collector road angled arch bridge (also made level version, not pictured). Separate trim pieces will cover the joints later, where textures don't line up. Surface street angled bridge, too.
That kinda begs camper shell and Banks super turbo motor for drifting use, one might need bit more steering angle though
Damn that's awesome! Too bad nobody made a double decker. Quite excited to use the mod when its ready.
when I actually finish it lol Also there were a coupe people making double deckers. --- Post updated --- the rear axle actually helps a bit with getting the bus sideways it helps with turn in a lot
In an effort to add more realism (as something within a stone's-throw of GTAV is my goal)... Road Stenciling is in for intersections. Choice of: Straight, Left, Left & Straight, Right, Right & Straight, separate 'ONLY' stenciling, (good for slopes as it's not too big and kinda fits anywhere) and combination 'arrow and stencil' for Left, Right, and Straight. These have no collision and go over the roads like you'd layer decal roads, and don't catch shadows (so the shadow is correctly on the real driving surface beneath it). Also includes complete-lane-width mask for Collector roads (ones with the grass sides) so the center lane can be converted into a left-turn lane as you approach intersections. Includes pre-made pieces for Slope Up, Slope Down (where hills start or finish), Flat, and each one has 3 variations: double yellow with single white stripe, double yellow with white strip combo with 'Left turn Only' arrow and stenciling, double yellow with no white stripe (indicating the beginning of the queue area for the left turn area) Best applied to the surface *BEFORE* you put the grade on the road (tilt it). So yes, yes now you too can make lane demarcation great again! Was working on a little something last night, before I almost fell asleep at the computer... New tunnel is created, new bridges are in use, yes, this is the very hilly portion of the town. Ignore grey edges of the roads (they denote what doesn't have LOD's yet, that's why some do or don't), and ignore the very rough terrain. There's a stream in though, just try not to give the car a drink, or a bath, or whatever. Of course knowing me, I'll manage to somehow put a jump in at the end of that road coming down the hill before too long. Again, terrain's very rough, but the new bridges don't look *too bad* if I can say so without sounding conceited. Can I do that??? Too late... Oh well. Maybe I'll make some... Colonial 2-story 'cookie cutter McMansions' (seeing as we helped erect 1000's of these when I worked construction)... Contemporary homes - the worst part of the 80s is back! Various Tenements only like the kind you find in LA for 400k or above for a 1000 sq/ft shack. Multi-family homes such as apartments and row-homes, including duplexes. IF you live in a house, and you'd like it in this city, send me a picture of your house in private message! Don't reveal address numbers, please, but how to do this? Simple, find on google maps where you live, or browse to a house you'd like to see, and whack PRINT SCREEN key on your keyboard (if on a laptop without one, use the 'Windows On-screen Keyboard') Open up a paint program, whether MSPaint, Paint.net (free from Microsoft), or another program of choice Press CTRL+V or select paste from the menu. Now just erase or scribble over any address numbers on the mailbox or door (or house) if in view for privacy concerns Save file and upload it! It doesn't have to be high-resolution, but if you DO make it high resolution, and are looking straight at it perfectly, I might be able to use the window and door graphics to give it that 'it's really your house' feel. Send the picture in a private conversation to me! I will model it sooner or later and stick it in the map (where you can steal it and put it in your own map if you wish!). If you live in a box I will not model that. If you live under a bridge, we already have bridges, so yeah, welcome home. Otherwise I have to model what my 9 year old niece drew up. Oh no, no we don't want that. It would end up looking like Ren & Stimpy's or Rocko's house from 90's cartoons. Well I might do those too. --That is all for now, more later. EDIT: Can't make a new post as I don't have pictures yet, PC was off as it's storming and Tornado-ing here (we didn't get one but I never saw a storm like the one we had tonight - the sky was glowing like someone was running a giant welder, not flashing, but a consistent glow)... some crazy stuff here but am OK! @Captain. Adam - to answer your question, I'll try to make the lake lower, I don't know how much lower the terrain can go but it should be able to. I'd like to make it about 50 feet deep if possible. It's technically a shallow lake as it's one of those like the Salton Sea, but it would function better with a deeper body of water. I'll try to make my water *NOT* float big trucks, too, like the water in Roane County did the 1st time they updated the game engine (you used to drive through water as if it was not even there, it didn't have the density it does now, this has been changed at-least TWO times if not 3 in the past 2 years). P.S. Thank-you developers for tweaking the water setting defaults in the last two years BTW - from someone who's gone 70+ mph IN REAL LIFE to cross ~25 to 30 feet (guess) of raging water over the road about 3~4 feet deep in a 92 Sable (yes! I'm absolutely fearless, but the car only moved over a few feet, and otherwise was unscathed, exiting the water at like ~25~35mph). I loved that car, such a tank, but so comfy too. Water physics matter. I always seem to have some spot with water on the road in half of my maps - because people need to know, cars + bath = sleep with fishes.
Did a bit of work today. Here's a view of the crazy roads to the coast. Don't fall in the pit of doom! I'll do walls and guardrails later, but not all roads will have them...
universal wheels have been added. Huge thanks to @ehhi47 . This wouldn't be possible without his help.
lmao OT: more work on the megapack, this time in the form of a rotary! @ItsYourBoi is a great modeler.
