Every time I brake in any Etk 800 series car (no matter variation or configuration) the brakes are weak and the brake lights flash in accordance to the ABS activating. Basically every time the brakes are pumped the brake lights flash with it. Same with ESC, whenever I go into a turn the brake lights flash whenever it's supposed to be working, except it brakes all four wheels at once and causes understeer. Does anyone else have this issue, or is it just my game?

Forgot to say this happens on the K series coupe too (is that the name of it?). Not sure about the older sedan though. It even happens with the sedan mod of the 800.

Modern cars flash brake lights during hard braking.

weird but cool I suppose! Either way the brakes are weak and it does the same thing when ESC comes on, and when ESC does come on it causes understeer or makes the car shudder.

Sorry that audio is so low, with headphones it is impossible to keep high levels required for recording. Notice how braking feels stronger without ABS, but braking distance is longer:

With treshold braking it might be possible to stop shorter distance than with ABS, do same test, brake with abs, then clone the car, take ABS out via parts manager, then try to stop on shorter distance on other lane, it is kinda fun challenge :)

Purpose of ESC is to keep car's nose pointing direction of travel, that indeed means understeer quite often, IRL those systems make cars boring, but kinda safe as crashing nose first is safest way to crash.

It all works same as in reality.

oh :/ the thing is is that it wasn't like that before in the game. Especially the flashing brake lights when ESC turns on, and it wasn't so understeer-y before. It gets annoying and makes the cars handle weird in turns when they were fine before. Ill make a video and add on on to this when I get the chance.

As with everything about the game, new features get added over time. I added flashing brake lights during ESC action because it is like that in reality.

I like that flashing brake lights feature, but shouldn't they also flash during TCS? Because IRL, if you got stuck in the snow, you would want to tell the drivers behind you that the TCS was slowing you down.

Interesting idea. Does any vehicle do this IRL, or is it just something you came up with?

On a similar note, I see that Mazda has a thing that flashes your hazards if you brake really hard:

It's just a safety feature I came up with. The Ford Fusion automatically detects a spinout and turns off the engine (or hybrid system) and flashes the hazard lights once the vehicle comes to a stop.

Brake lights already come on when the ESC intervenes. I'm not a fan of doing it for TC too, since that usually doesn't actually slow you down.

Ours activates them once your are stopped after heavy braking. This is visually much less distractive than the hazards while braking thing.

A fair point about traction control not slowing a car down.

RE: the Mazda ESS system, different brands do different things. You've already got the 'better' implementation, but it seems that it only makes sense to offer differing implementations among the game's car brands.

I don't see much value in making the code overly complicated for such a tiny little distracting detail. As always though, feel free to implement this yourself as a mod, it's just a little controller that does it.

Meh? If you don't want to implement it that's fine with me, just as it would be fine with me if someone did want to implement it. After seeing ItsTheLittleAcura!'s suggestion I became curious and searched for other manufacturer's takes on flashing lights during certain conditions. Mentioning it here was just me sharing info.

When I wrote my above post I assumed that the biggest reason not to implement it was that there was no appropriate car in game to add it to. Personally I think that's a full-stop right there, no point in writing code for a car that doesn't exist. If there was somewhere to put a system like that I think that the justification you wrote above ("because it's like that IRL") would trump points like "overly complicated" and "tiny little distracting detail". After all, that justification worked for the existing controller. ;-)
