WORK IN PROGRESS. - Looking for name suggestions as this may soon turn into a pack of 3 (maybe more) rat rods. - Looking for somebody who can do patina or rust paint jobs. - Looking for somebody to take high quality pictures for the configs. Think you got what it takes? Send me a private message, we'll talk about it. I will only send the files to those willing to work with me. Others will have to wait until it is good enough to post on the repo. Most parts are a mix of vanilla cars (Barstow, D-Series, T-series, Burnside, Moonhawk and 200BX) that have been heavily modified to the point where they are barely recognizable. This whole thing was done overnight and I didn't expect much, but it actually turned out great! Special thanks to @Cheekqo™ for the nice quality pictures
That's an interesting vehicle... Sadly, I'm no help to it, since I can't do any of the things you want
This is pretty much as stock as it can be for now, 2 barrel carb inline 6 engine with suspension at stock height, no rollcage and no wheelie bar. Maybe a hood would help make it look a bit more stock. I could make one, that's only like a 10 minute thing.
A cool hot-rod/rat-rod feature would be portal axles to get the car lower to the ground. I'm on slow wi-fi right now, so I can't find a good picture of it, but I know that I've seen portal axles on these before to get the axle closer to the ground.
Maybe when you find it possible you could make the period correct I-beam front suspension setup on this thing. Would be cool to have something like that.
A cool name (and reference to a diesel Hot Rod) could be like... idk... welderdown? Anways here's a video of something very similar to your mod:
I already have something planned with the front beam axle from the D-series. I can get it low enough that the axle rubs on the ground. Here's one of the first screenshots i took with that axle. I decided to do the independent suspension first because it has better high speed handling, but there will be many different types of suspension yes
I did start with that suspension first but went with the ifs for better high speed handling. The front beam axle will be done maybe today along with leaf springs on the rear, right now i only have the 4 link drag suspension fitted properly
Not any other bodies done yet, but I am working on a pickup right now, and I have a couple more ideas but I don't want to spoil anything. If you like rat rods or hot rods as much as I do, you should be happy with the end result. This might have to wait until September before I release anything to the public. Until then I will keep posting more teaser pictures of my progress at least twice a week to keep you guys up to date.
yes, rollcage gussets will look something like this as for the lanterns well, i already got headlights but i could use lanterns as taillights lights maybe?
