This might be my most insane creation yet.




This is the 1978 Soliad Tau-59 XHP1, or "Experimental High Performance." Only 25 non-street-legal prototypes - no catalytic converter - were ever made. (Nowadays, it is so old that nobody cares about its emissions, and you can actually drive it on the highway.) It used a DOHC, turbocharged, fuel-injected variant of the notoriously-bad Baton Rouge I4, managing to squeeze out around 250 HP at high RPM.

As it was turbocharged in 1978, it was unreliable and suffered from severe turbo lag - if you screwed up the launch, you weren't going anywhere. If you could somehow get it going, first gear would take you all the way up to 75 MPH, and it could pretty much be driven exclusively in second gear. The transmission would keep you squarely in the power band, never allowing the turbocharger to spin down - this certainly didn't help reliability. The top speed was claimed to be 150 MPH but was really around 148 - not bad for a subcompact. Fuel economy, though? Fuhgeddaboudit. It got around 12 MPG.

Somewhere, New Mexico.

"Is this the place?" Verox asked.
"Yeah... Looks to be it." The passenger replied.
"It seems to be open. Let me get out and take a look."
"I'll keep the car running."
Verox stepped out of his F355 Challenge.

"Hello?" Verox asked as he slid open the dirty glass door.
"You're here to race... I knew you would come."
"H- How did you know?"
"Your car... You wouldn't drive a F355 Challenge all the way out here for nothing!"
Verox didn't reply.
"Well, let me get my car ready." The stranger stated.
He walked past Verox and quietly left the building. He took a key from his pocket, and unlocked a solid steel door that lead to the garage. The door slammed shut. Verox walked outside and waited patiently. Then, he heard it. The high-pitched yet harrowing scream of an RB26DETT echo from inside the walls of the garage.
Verox looked pleased.
"Now this is what i came here for." Verox muttered to himself as the garage door swung open, revealing a Nissan Skyline GTR Z-Tune.

a maniacal grin hung from the strangers face as he pulled the car out into the dusky air.
Verox ran back to his car and prepared himself.
"Arron, Im gonna need you to step out of the car." Verox said to the passenger, with an expression of fear an adrenaline. Arron obliged without a complaint.
Both cars and drivers readied themselves.
Arron looked at Verox from outside the car with worry in his eyes. He said nothing.
"First one to the border line wins." The stranger called to Verox as he rolled down his window.
"Alright."
